4 dalembart larkin calderon
haha 4 threads on this already - do I hear 5?
Wow. I'm mixed on this -- there's favorable elements to it (Dalembert would be an expiring contract assuming only his team option for 2014/15 is picked up and no raise, Larkin's a promising enough young PG I guess, Ellington's still young and can really shoot it, I'll take the future 2nd rounder that's said to be included, they would be taking Felton off our hands) but Calderon still has a lot left on his deal. That's the deal-breaker for me...Substitute Brandan Wright's expiring contract at $5mm for Calderon and either cash and/or another younger player with upside (Ricky Ledo? Jae Crowder?) to offset and it instantly becomes much more attractive...
Even so, this kinda screams "is that really the best we can do?" Shoot, if we're looking at dealing Chandler (a) with no 1st rounder coming back and (b) where we'd be expected to take on any kind of long-term salary in return, I think New Orleans is a much better trade partner. I think I'd keep looking or at the very least, flesh this out a little better in our favor..
Another thing -- how good a player is Shane Larkin? He'd be the primary building block we'd be getting in return here...Is he that much better than DJ Augustin by comparison or a PG we might be able to get late in this draft for cash like a Russ Smith, Deonte Burton, DeAndre Kane? I'm not really sold on Larkin to be honest...
I'd rather have Calderon than Felton - maybe he will be traded ( I don't think The Knicks would have to wait until December to re trade him)
Or maybe He fits the system. I'll trust Phil until he screws something up.
MAKE IT SO!!! I have no problem with getting rid of both Felton and Tyson in one shot!!! This would be a solid move IMO. Nothing spectacular but decent assets coming back if this is true.
To be fair, Larkin may be better than I'm giving him credit for. Safe to say the upside's much higher than DJ Augustin's ceiling... Even though he's small, he's got big-time athleticism (44" max vertical per DX) and the rest of his game is strong (plays both ends, very quick, real PG, he can shoot/penetrate, handle well, orchestrate, etc.)...I don't know if I can get past taking on Calderon's salary though..
Deal may involve too Mavericks send NY two/2 2014 draft picks ...its reported

OK, a little better...Would love to swap out Calderon for Brendan Wright's expiring contract ($5mm) and whatever cash amount to equalize.
Larkin can replace Jeter?

Bargs game just improved a lot with the addition of Calderon and the subtraction of Tyson.
This is one terrible trade and wreaks of desperation. I was not averse to assuming contracts beyond 2015 but for Jose Calderon at $7 million per? If there is not a subsequent deal to parlay him into a better player or an expiring contract, we lost in this trade.
someone tell me what we are doing.
calderon?
i guess defense is not something phil cares about anymore.

What's even more peculiar is that Melo is likely to leave. Why the hell are we taking him back if the franchise just walked out the door?

Please stop with the improved Bargs talk. Bargs is just bad. No I do not need an explanation Nix. I will save you from wasting your time. lol
look he can shoot and is a far better distributor than felton.
equally bad on d (felton used to be better, i think) but costs much more and is in older.
isn't as quick so won't be much different.
hear we are getting a full mle exception.
cap space...we used to love you?
maybe?

Deal ridsof 2 bad malcontents whom caused my buddy Mike Woodson his job cause
He trusted chandler Felton Jr smiths of his world.
Poison emitter sent elsewhere, good luck Ray and Ty
Good trade, Calderon is the dude that pg the Mavs and took SAS to a good 1st round series? Yep. Better than Felton. Larkin a prospect? I think so. Dalebert not as good as flu tyson, but thats ok.
2 2nd picks? I think this is the kind of deal you make when you rebuild.
These are also trade assets as well.
Exactly. At first glance the picks suck but they can become valuable
Great to finally be operating like an NBA ball club
Thanks Zen Master!!
