Knicks · Tyson & Felton to Dallas (page 2)

Calderon is Steve Kerr lite. You are basically adding a year and 3M to Feltons contract. He is a better player so that's not too bad. Dalembert contract has a team option on it so they can erase his salary or keep him.

Who know what kind of player Larkin is.

Calderon is signed for another three years at 7MM per. He can't play defense and has a lot of miles on him. Larkin is 5'11 and Dalmbert isn't better than Tyson. You add years and don't really get anyone that's a solid rotation player.

Phil better get his shit together.

Agree this deal scks

Agree with you guys. I think I'd keep looking around...

gunsnewing @ 6/25/2014 5:03 PM
Maybe Larkin is what Phil meant about combing for players on good teams benches
BRIGGS @ 6/25/2014 5:05 PM
The potential cap space this year might be interesting maybe deal part of bigger plan I will wait on judgement
yellowboy90 @ 6/25/2014 5:06 PM
I also think this gets the KNicks under the tax apron which would open up the full MLE. The deal takes out the chance of getting Patty Mills but Gasol would maybe be a possibility. However why add Gasol if you are letting Melo go.
newyorknewyork @ 6/25/2014 5:06 PM
Don't like the deal. Hopefully this deal is getting thrown out there to make a team like OKC up there offer or something.
djsunyc @ 6/25/2014 5:07 PM
it's not an isiah deal, this is a layden type deal.

but it's early so many more moves or non-moves can happen.

jose + amare + bargs might make this the worst defensive knicks squad in history.

plus final details haven't come out. knicks may be getting a 2nd rounder.

he's solid and not ijury prone like tyson, jose has a higher IQ then felton, and jose shot 45% from 3, shane is going to be a very good player, the 1 game i saw him start, he was a blur, and got to the rim with ease, ellington is another 3 point threat who shot over 40% from down town

Shane Larkin hasn't played enough for anyone to get a feel for how good he I'd. The real problem with the deal is Calderon. He'd declining and he's getting salary for three more years. This deal is even worse if Melo bolts.
yellowboy90 @ 6/25/2014 5:08 PM
ANother thing is that Salembert had nearly the same production as Tyson did last year per 36.
gunsnewing @ 6/25/2014 5:11 PM
Yea something is up and now we have options at PG

We're stuck with Calderon until he expires in 2016. Nobody is going to want to pay $7M+ to a backup.

Listen dudes Calderon no star is TWICE The guard R.Felton been here for 2 yrs what wrong with u guys?
We have no picks or trades for #1PG's

And a healthy Shane Larkin (recall college) is touted potential as better ceiling to run a team than Calderon &Feltom combined.

Thus this Phil move is to give Melon something to ponder on new look of team, and possible playoffs.

What ha think Mavs. And Dirk and Jose did vs Champs Spurs, tough series against the best. At least PG Calderone passes and gets Assists

Calderon is solid, but he's never been a defender and he's in decline. We're not a solid point guard away from contending, even with Melo. We're dropping $21M+ plus on a position that we still need to upgrade.

Phil pitch to Melo is we will bring you Dirk's supporting cast that took the Spurs to 7 games but wait there's more...We play in the east! Finals here we come.

Like it or not, looks like the deal will be finalized today. NYK's get Dallas's picks 34 & 51
DrAlphaeus @ 6/25/2014 5:17 PM
Interesting take here. Surprised so many people not into the trade as reported. ESPN Radio guys think the Knicks are the team that are making out in this trade, and wonder why Dallas wants Tyson so bad considering his flu-like performance the last couple of years.
DJMUSIC @ 6/25/2014 5:18 PM
Hold on fellas will ya?????

Deal may involve too Mavericks send NY two/2 2014 draft picks ...its reported

#34 and #51 picks

newyorknewyork @ 6/25/2014 5:18 PM
Id rather try and swap Tyson for Eric Gordan if we are to take salary back.

I wouldn't be surprised if Calderon is flipped again. Still a solid player, not a terrible contract. It's pretty in line with his production. Getting back Larkin, #34, and #51. Most people on this board will give their left foot for assets and 2nd round picks should be overly excited.

yellowboy90 @ 6/25/2014 5:20 PM
I changed my mind on the Full MLE if it is available. It would still make sense to use it on Patty Mills if he is available.
nixluva @ 6/25/2014 5:25 PM
If this goes thru we get rid of Raymond Felon and Flu Tyson!!! It's not a bad deal anytime we can move these guys and get something back for them. These aren't the deals to bring us back to title contention so people need to lower their expectations of what we could get for these guys.
