The best thing dallas had was jose and dirk.

I hope Tyson ends up being a major bust for them and the excuses start all over again. Give them a taste of what we've had to deal with for the last couple of seasons.

I agree. Tyson was a quitter and a problem in the locker room. It is amazing that he is still seen as a guy with tremendous character and a stabilizer for a locker room. My guess is he has a pretty good year as it is the final year of his contract. I don't think he will miss six games down the stretch for mysterious personal reasons.

what was carmelo anthony during the last few weeks of d'antoni's tenure here with linsanity and whatnot?

considering the clusterfrick of the last 3 seasons i am sure he is relieved to have real management in place with a plan. If he comes back it will be because he is on a better team with healthy leadership and real coaching.

</well that was easy>

I think tyson was more like, "the sht were doing ain't working so why the hell are we still doing it" no one was really comfortable with the swtiching, lack of ball movement, and almost no in game adjustments. I think he is a postive in the locker room, but the culture as a whole was ridiculous and some of his comments were so evident.

but what you described is quitting on a coach and thats a negative. When Melo didnt want to stand in the corner of MDA's offense waiting for Lin to pass him the ball he was quitting. But when Tyson doesnt want to do what the coach says its OK because...

Tyson's problem is he's the ultimate one dimensional guy. So when he's not playing great defense he's literally Jared Jefferies.

Not defending tyson or anything like that, but in all reality most Centers in todays game are ONE DEMENSIONAL, in fact, I'll go out on a limb here and say that, most players in todays game are not Magic or LBJ, you either going to get a prolific scorer who plays ok defense, or a defense gem who's going to have limited offense abilities.

It's really all about the right fit, and Tyson, Amare and melo was a work in progress to say the least, especially with a suspect coach like woodson and MDA.

Tysons could not beat you in a game of horse if you ban dunking. That's all I have to say about that

I dont have a problem with any of them. In hindsight it was a good plan, it just didnt work. We had two elite forwards and a center who won a couple DPOY. That could have been a great start. Getting them together cost too much and we couldnt fix the backcourt (Toney Douglas, Baron Davis, Bibby, Lin, etc etc). Amare was always hurt. MDA and Melo were a bad mix and without quality guard play that group was less than the sum of its parts.

I liked Phil's take that he saw too much "you ain't got my back" finger pointing going on. Changling couldn't carry his weight defensively, couldn't do anything with his mechanical 16 ft jumper and dissipated into off-court coaching. Good riddance, and I was all for the signing when we got Chandler. It just never really worked out.

I don't understand WTF Cuban is doing. If expirings aren't worth what they used to be under the new CBA, what's the point of taking back an older, more brain-dead version of what you weren't willing to pay for before? Isn't there a less idiotic way to tank than to get rid of 3 piddling contracts?

We get two PG's. Good for us!

When he won the DPOY, i think it was more on the fact that we were so brutal defensively for so long prior to him coming here, that his presence was a key factor in the knicks becoming a respectable defensive team, his stats were not all that when he won it, I think he change the culture.

I'm completely baffled at what cuban see's in tyson, but then again, playing in the west were they have more big man, you can kinda see a little of what he may be seeing in bring him back.

The east is more small ball and tyson is not fit for that at all, hibbert essentially is the only real center in the east

I think chandler and Dirk will be in the league for about the same window. Dallas doesn't exactly grow talent so I think this is their version of trading for Steve Francis.
