He is going to be parading himself around the league and to the media. He wants to feed his ego. It's not just about going to the team that gives him the best chance at a ring. He is making the same mistake Lebron made minus the Decision at least there isn't one planned as of yet.
He is not going through all of this just to stay in New York in the end. As far as I'm concerned Knicks are already moving on without him by drafting 2 SF's. If he wanted to be here he'd be locked up for less already. Melo is gone
I've been thinking this since probably before the all star break. I'm prepared...at least I think I am. Not sure If I can go back to the dark ages. There's only so much Phil and his staff can do. I don't think they have much to work with at the moment unfortunately.
This is a Game over thread

No! Reverse physcology will not work in this case lol
I just don't see Melo going through all this fiasco to simply stay with the Knicks
Melo is going to sign with a team that ms ready to win now not after 2016+
are there any other examples of big stars that went out, visited with teams during their free agency, and then didn't leave?

Doing what most big FAs do. I think he resings at a slight discount. Supposedly all the negative Melo rumors are coming from his agency who don't like him taking less. Who knows. We'll see in 2 weeks.

I think deron Williams visited the mavs before going back to the nets. I don't think there have been many big name free agents since the new CBA. The guy that left his team was Howard.
bye melo!!! BYEBYE DON'T LET DOOR HIT YOU ON THE WAY OUT
I will say this. If he does come back then this was all about him feeding his ego by wanting to be courted. He wants to be courted like Lebron. How self centered can you be?
I swear NBA players are a joke now

+1, I am glad we are. The Memo thing was nice while it lasted, but Memo isn't a leader. That is going to be his biggest obstacle.
LOL, looks lik Phil would really like Melo, so we just got to face it that he won't come back.........
I'm gonna call it now. Melo goes Hollywood. Melo/Kobe/Gasol and they get to pick their coach. Big market, perfect weather, great place to raise a family and they already have a home there.

I would gladly take Julius Randle. Lakers just signed Kobe for a ton of money they are in win now mose. Melo gives Kobe his last shot. When can drafted players be traded?

Going back to the dark ages. What was last year?

"Ages" would imply more than 1 year

I don't know. He is on his fourth gm in 3 1/2 years and he is on his third coach. He is 30 and has a limited time where he will be able to play at an elite level. My guess is that when the opt out was negotiated in his deal both he and the Knicks never imagined something like last year would happen. At least he can see that Phil is getting rid of the bad chemistry/bad player types and moving on. Also, has a trade by the Knicks been made in the past 4 years where they came out looking like the winner prior to the one made this week? Should he not be concerned about ownership, management, the coach and the roster when planning for his career?
^he didn't care about gutting the roster when he came here from Denver

That is on management and ownership. He wanted a deal before the lockout and Ujiri wanted compensation for him rather than letting him walk. He either became a Knick at the deadline or went somewhere else. Knick management/ownership accepted the terms to get Melo.

I think the league would be all over any deal between these two teams. Odds are slim to None. But Nash and Randle would be a score. Has alot of feel good story lines but it will never happen
