Knicks decline the qualifying offer
Honestly this isn't really that big a deal. Nice enough player with some potential but I honestly feel we can do better -- we have more than enough at the 2 right now and I want a better talent at backup 1 (even with Larkin in the mix).
What's the deal with Aldrich? That's what I wanna know. Read somewhere yesterday someone mentioning that Berman said we're declining QOs for both Murry and Aldrich. Did we even have a QO to offer Aldrich?? No if, ands or buts...BRING ALDRICH BACK!!!
I liked Murry. He's shows you just enough to make it a hard decision, but Larkin has more upside and should be developed. I look at it as a sign that we will be keeping Larkin

Larkin is a point guard with decent polish. The dude just lacks NBA experience due to injury. Murry on the other hand is a tweeter at point and shooting guard. He does need to be developed.
With that said I don't think Phil wants to develop players. I think he is looking for guys that can come in and play right away. Murry could contribute but his role in league hadn't been defined yet.
Larkin makes Murry expendable. Focus more on getting deeper in the front court. Have to be a much better rebounding team this season.

well the Greek kid is a project, but I do hear you. Early is clearly a guy with an NBA ready (or hopefully) skill set. He may be a really nice find.

I'm curious to see what happens with Prigioni. He is getting a little long in the tooth and has 2 more guaranteed years. I like the guy, but he avg's 3.8 ppg and is a reluctant shooter while Larkin could be a nice change of pace guard. Then there's Brown. I'm not sure what his deal is but if he is a RFA do we resign him with 3 pgs already on the roster not to mention that he doesn't seem to do anything well except maybe a decent defender?

If Prigs passes up easy layups and wide open jumpers again this season, I hope that Fisher threatens to bench him in favor or Larkin. Being a pass first PG is great, but you can also hurt your team when you pass up on easy scoring opportunities. Especially when you're passing to someone who has a worse look at the rim than you do.
Smart move. I know Murry enjoyed a lot of love on this board, but I never saw it. He looked lost and slow bringing the ball up and inept when initiating the offense. I get that he was big and defended, but as an orchestrator, he was way far away from being adequate.
Eny, you gonna be OK when we let Tyler go?

Yeah cuz I'm a knick fan. I can't see us giving up on him like this but if we so so be it.

I'm thinking Brown goes to. He's a luxury we can't afford. I'd rather have Jordan Farmer over him anyway. The fact remains that we just have too many guaranteed contracts tied up in guards. We still need to find away to lose Wayne Ellington's deal. I rooted for Murry, but the numbers just weren't on his side.
There were too many bodies ahead of Murry at G. I like him but he needs to improve.
Another sound basketball move.
Jameer Nelson is available. I would try to trade Prigs and see if we can add Nelson as a backup. He averaged 12 and 7 last season

I wiuldn't mind trading Prigs, but Nelson's defense sucks too. We need someone who can hold Steph Curry to 35 instead of the usual 50 he drops on us.

He would still be an upgrade from prigs. Nelson would be coming off the bench so stopping Curry would mostly be on whoever is starting or the SG. Curry can go off on anyone,so I wouldn't use him as an example of why Nelson shouldn't be signed.

If those stories of Murry getting interest from several teams are true, that probably won't happen. Murry passed up a chance to play for the Heat last season to play in NY, I don't know if he will pass up a larger deal this season to stay in NY. He might, but I wouldn't blame him for cashing in.

The problem is that we have possibly the worse PG defender in the league starting for us. We saw this storyline play out for last year. If Calderon is our starter, then we need someone who can pinch hit for him from time to time. Toronto had Lowry while Dallas had Ellis and Devin Harris. We need to handcuff Calderon to a defender.

Worse than Felton? Find that hard to believe. We don't have a lot of cap space this season, I don't know who is out there who fits the bill. Would rather have a backup PG who isn't allergic to the rim. At least we would get that with Nelson.
