Knicks · There seems to be a buzz about Lin getting moved to the Sixers (page 4)

Wow - what a franchise. These guys and Melo deserve each other.Pretty funny
he is an excellent gm in terms of taking advantage of dumbasses like the knicks in trades.
what the hell does that have to do with his social skills? he's still a great gm.
Yep. Donnie Walsh made some guys look really good.walsh was not in las vegas.
the bigger mistake was acquiring a jayvee player who insisted that he be paid at the varsity level.
also what's your point about mcgrady? you don't approve of clearing cap space in 2009-2010 to land two max free agents that summer of 2010 that hurl the knicks into win-now mode? do you need draft picks when you have two top-tier players?
make up your mind, was he doing these deals to rebuild from scratch or swing for the fences, a philosophy that his boss, dolan, advocated?

I try to stay pretty up on things and would appreciate a link to a statement that you say Jax has been saying for months. What I have heard is that Jax has told Melo he would give him the max if that is what it takes. That has been out there in the media. However, I haven't heard Jax say it himself. It should be interesting. Management is meeting with Melo after the Lakers.fishmike wrote:GustavBahler wrote:dont worry... It will be like it was 2 years ago. Wonder if Phil will get crucified if he resigns Melo and gives him a penny over 14mil
? I have the feeling that Phil will probably be exempt and Melo will be blamed for forcing Phils hand....
1) Melo forced Phil
2) Dolan forced Phil
3) Phil is oldI was leaning towards number 2 if Melo got the max, but I'm having second thoughts about that scenario. Usually we hear stories at this point about Dolan interfering, but there hasn't been a peep about Dolan since the medical staff controversy. If Dolan really was calling the shots I believe someone would have leaked it by now.

but melo has already agreed to not take the max to become a knick! that's what phil jackson has been saying about his talks with melo for months. "no courting no wooing." "you want to be a knick then don't ask for the max because you won't get it."
don't tell me you think it's okay to for melo to be a hypocrite and pay lip service. then again, isn't paying lip service what melo is all about?
and while we are on the subject of what has been said, lets not forget that "sources close to melo" are already reneging.
this is going to be an EPIC showdown.
The only move that would make sense for me is to bring him back to New York and just let the kid play. Enough with all of the distractions. Let the kid play.

I don't see any good things coming out of Lin/Rockets relationship from this point forward. His teammates are not on the same page as him. Fans are throwing him under the bus. Front office dissed him.I think Calderon/Larkin/Prigs are running the point for the Knicks. It sounds like Morey could move Lin, probably with some sort of compensation (i.e. draft picks) to the Sixers if he needed to. He may end up back in Houston if Morey and the Rockets don't need the cap space to make a move allowing them to save whatever they were giving the sixers to take on Lin's deal. The only move that would make sense for me is to bring him back to New York and just let the kid play. the 2010 plan was a dolan-mandated agenda. yes or no?
walsh did his best to execute it. hence, the acquisition of two "names"-- while personally repugnant to me in theory-- was being carried out. hence you should not be complaining about the mcgrady deal.
cut the crap about everybody knowing too. this was the summer of lebron. was walsh supposed to demur for two years?!? get real. he was following a transparent mandate from a very very stoopid person. that same stoopid person who decided to fly to vegas to consummate a colossally stupid deal.
this is the same stupid person who finally admitted to the world that he did not know what he was doing, and insofar as the melo rape was his "signature move" we can all safely assume that this was the worst possible thing he has ever done as an owner.
so if you were in favor of melo's services then you endorsed the owner's agenda, who is a colossally stupid bungler.
dk7th wrote:We disagree about the 2010 plan. That was all Walsh. One other thing, if Walsh was following a transparent mandate from ownership and not the plan he proposed when hired why was he only allowed to come back if he took a significant pay cut?CrushAlot wrote:dk7th wrote:Make up my mind? dk7th wrote:here's what morey actually said in the article:"It’s always a challenging situation during free agency,” Morey said. “You are always having to recruit players and there might be current players at current positions, might be people with the current numbers. It’s unfortunate that it’s often hard to handle. Reality is, it’s standard practice. When we went after Chris Bosh a few years ago,we had him in Luis Scola’s number. When we went after Dwight Howard he had (Pat) Beverley’s number. I get the sensitivity and I hate that it creates some hurt feelings. I don’t like that, but that’s obviously Carmelo Anthony’s number, that’s the number he wants. He told us that. Bottom line, if Carmelo comes Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin have to be traded. It’s just math. It’s not personal. My job is every day figure out how to win. Sometimes it creates challenging situations."
perfectly transparent, matter of fact.
Being an asshole with zero social skills, will eventually catch up with Morey. He's made enemies already.
He is over rated- he was on the verge of being fired until the Harden luck. He had Dragic and Lowry and let them both go, then wasted all that money on Lin, then decided he wanted Lowry back again. He's great at finding hidden gems, but struggles to do trades due to his ego of wanting to be seen as the all out winner in them. How is forming a team of Melo, Harden and Dwight anything to do with advance metrics anyways? I think he's only after Melo because he thinks it would make him look like a really great GM landing 3 stars like that- Melo makes zero sense for that team!

the quote from the article seemed pragmatic and businesslike. what you are adding here is perhaps accurate and if hubris is involved it will eventually catch up with him. always does.

I hope someone gives Pasons a fat payday, and he loses out on melo, and Parson or any FA for the matter, then force to trade lin, and and get stuck with just beverly, who he'll trade next off season.
Some of these GMs conduct business like its NBA 2k
