with Patty Mills surgery ... got me thinking....
are we so sure Melo won't pull a JR Smith and get shoulder surgery after resigning?
Patty Mills is getting surgery after lighting up the finals.
Last we saw of Melo he was damaged goods on the court.
That would fit the Spurs model.

Doesnt matter i doubt Melo is resigning because it sounds like he likes chicago and i wnats mouth youth/draft picks. Let Chicago deal with him and rose breaking down

Quite a bit of speculation on twitter that Melo is coming back to the knicks. I posted some of the tweets in the free agency thread.

Spears, Begley, Stein, and Isola are speculating he will be back on twitter. Also, Nalod posted a bunch of Kenny Anderson tweets saying Melo is coming back. I haven't heard much about Anderson in quite awhile but he may know something.

im hoping Phil can pull off a good S/T with the Bulls. I like teh direction he is going ingetting younger and focusing on the draft

That'd be a best case scenario in my book. Not only would Melo get some rest to help prolong his career, we'd be terrible enough to maximize our chances of getting the no.1 overall pick in 2015 ala the Spurs in '97 when they got Tim Duncan.

Great comment, made me laugh out loud

You can just say you don't want Melo back

I dont want him back at the max( 5 years 130 million) thats for sure especially now that he is in his 30's. Take a discount and i would be fine with him back
It does not matter if he is back or not.
Or he will get this money or some equivalent player/group of players/assets.
In any case Melo is not make or break player.
Just a very good complimentary piece which should be used properly.

Exactly right. And I still don't want Melo back.
I had an injured shoulder once,
It lasted for a few years
I healed it by working my over head press up to 145 #
It's just so funny to me that the entire basketball media universe is focused on Carmelo, Nd you can't find a shred of reporting on his torn labrum. Not a shred. It's as if we are supposed to accept that his labrum tear has simply healed up and gone away ... Fuggedaboutit

cool story bro

all the more reason for melo to demand the max-- he has mouths to feed and god knows you can't live off the interest on 160 million dollars.

Agree 100%. Thats a fair assessment. Some people overrate melo and some underrrate him. The guy is a great scorer but i think he is the perfect second big piece on a contending team. Look players like lebron and durant and even duncan/kobe in their prime are arre so kts not a knock against melo. I just think its unwise to pay a player like melo a monster contract in his 30's especially since he hasnt had much success in playoffs. The only player i would pay that kind of money is to lebron and possibly durant because his age and he is probably second only to lebron as a player

Did nothing for the head that sits on it?
It would only be fitting for the Knicks to offer him the most money and then he misses most of the year with surgery on both shoulders
