I'm pretty sure Carmelo will take less than $129 million. Not saying it will be five years $100 but it won't be $129 million

Watch it will probably be 120-125 million and he will say he took less lol

I said this before and I'll say it again, DO NOT put the max contract on the table if you don't want me to sign it...

With that said, the days of 3 max cats on one team are over, talent is spreading now for those who weren't paying attention. Even if Melo signed for the full max, we still have enough for another max-cat. It's been heavily reported that PJax wanted no parts of a Melo sign and trade. Letting Melo walk for nothing is bad business regardless of how much some of you on this board seem to loath Melo.

Star FA's ain't going to a team that doesn't already have any star players. You think Durant would leave OKC to come play with Cleanthony Early? Get real. This was a good move by the Knicks, its puts them in play. If Melo walks for nothing, we are Orlando Magic Status....

He's 30 years old, there is no next step. At this point he is what he is as a player.

Thats not a good sign then since we just gave him 129 million and his playoof record hasnt been stellar.

Glad we finally have an answer. I doubt Melo will take the max. Said too much about wanting to get a ring, volunteered to take less, and was challenged to take less by Jackson. I don't blame him for asking for a no trade clause because he could find himself on a small market bottom feeder as his career is winding down if Phil or his successor wants to move in another direction.

Hope Melo listens to Phil and his advice on how to be a more complete player. I don't buy that Melo will never change because he has changed since he got here. Has become a better defender, rebounder, he also switched from his natural position to accommodate Woodson. Still has more work to do, hope he rises to the occasion. With Phil and Fisher here now I believe its possible. Time will tell.

He's also become a much better 3-pt shooter which is very important as his body ages

Melo is here and we're better for it. Now that we have Phil in charge there will be a change in the way we play and that should help Melo to be a better player. We should have better regular season and playoff performances now and in the end that's gonna give us a better shot to get to the finals. Knick fans need to get with the program. Stop the self hate and Melo hate. This is not the Knicks of the past.

Good thing is we are back to being somewhere between complete garbage and mediocre. At least Cleveland will be fun to watch.

True... if Bosh is worth max money, Melo is worth max and a half.

Bosh is barely worth half the contract he signed.

Exactly which is crazy when you think of guys like lebron durant duncan parker dirk and even noah who have had more success especially in postseason

It's not crazy when you realize that these salaries and the amount you can make are set in stone and all depend on the years you have put in. Dirk and Duncan have had max salaries in the past. Durant hasn't put in as many years as Melo yet, but do you have any doubt that he wont get his money? If Lebron stays in Miami, he would have gotten more as well....

Easy for you to say leave 50 mil on the table while sitting behind your computer....In all sports, when isn't it about the money?
