All I see is they indirectly predict us to be a 6th seed in the east
nixluva @ 7/22/2014 12:19 PM
Wow they give a lot of credit to DRose returning. I actually don't think the Knicks were treated bad in this list. Things can change since Phil is likely to make another move to clean up the roster. It's one of the reasons I still have hope this team can be even better THIS YEAR than most think. If Phil can make the right final moves in balancing the roster this team could be pretty darned good. We'll see.
yellowboy90 @ 7/22/2014 12:31 PM
The Pacers might take a serious step back.

I agree. Bird appears to be really upset about losing Lance. Said he was the most talented guy on the roster when he was 'on'.
Nalod @ 7/22/2014 12:37 PM
No Metrics!

I think Stuckey and C.J. Miles make up for the loss of Lance.

What they lose is the lifeblood of youth with his talent

What they gain is the non volatile acts of immaturity and team balance

They picked up this Euro shooter who could be like a Teletovic type of player.

Indy comes back to a more accurate competitive team strength/// 48 wins

I think its less that and more the other teams in the east. After the Cavs 5 of the next 6 are in the west, and Bulls are balanced and well coached and right now probably better than the Pacers. So I read more like the Bulls are the team most likely to make the finals if the Cavs dont.

look around the NBA... which is more valued?
markvmc @ 7/22/2014 7:37 PM
40/1 is seriously stingy. Laughable in fact.
gunsnewing @ 7/22/2014 7:44 PM
Thought this said Vegas picks the Knicks to win the title lol
VCoug @ 7/22/2014 8:55 PM
Lol, 40:1? We have better odds than Memphis?

What's valued around the league does not automatically determine if a TEAM can be successful with less of it.

Now had the Pacers lost Stephenson without replacing what he brought with intangibles and specific skill sets, I'd agree

They needed to address scoring and shooting while at the same time stabilizing their locker room

Yeah, adding Calderon doesn't push us from the 19th to the 12th best team. It's crazy
F500ONE @ 7/22/2014 9:30 PM
J.R. Smith skills are valued across the league.

J.R. Smith the basketball player/person is not valued across the league

If it was at all possible you replace J.R. Smith with Patty Mills/////no brainer.

That's essentially what the Pacers did with Lance's departure

Totally. And Memphis is ranked way to low in general. I understand that Vegas odds don't reflect which teams Vegas thinks are going to win but how best to take advantage of the public and their perceptions on who will win, but still.

VDesai @ 7/22/2014 10:16 PM
40 to 1 is generous- it might as well be 200 to 1. But the Spurs at 9 to 2 looks choice to me. I see no reason why they won't repeat this year. Lebron's gonna need a year of adjustment and I don't think Kyrie and company are champions yet.

Might as well wait on ESPN's SCHAMOAN and see what he says

Yeah, if they were to play the season 40 times, I don't think the Knicks would win the championship in one of them.
markvmc @ 7/23/2014 12:10 AM
Clippers are a value bet, if Doc Rivers and the actual team stick around.

Nope. Vegas NBA season predictions are pointless and and probably put together by Peoe who don't know the ins and outs of the league nearly as well as the metric folks

Now football is different
