Knicks · IS CALDERON ELITE STATUS (page 4)

We have to give Jose a chance to get it going. I really hate to see how impatient Knick fans are. Dude is coming off a long layoff and has had to get it back on the fly and is behind in his developing chemistry with his teammates. It's very understandable that he might struggle trying to get his game back. It's been his history to be a very efficient player and I think he will eventually get his game back. Prigs has been relatively healthy and is in mid season form. We need Jose to get to that same point.
I am not complaining. Just stating what I've noticed. I much rather have him in the back court then Shump as our play maker. Guys are not setting picks to allow him space to lunch his shots. He is playing with a bunch of selfish players who never look for the shooters on the wing. Specifically, when Amare is on the court.

We don't have time to give
And please stop borrowing time as an excuse against the remaining schedule
He's simply doesn't have WINNING impact
But may have some value across the league to help our future

Don't accuse me of borrowing time!!! What kind of stupid ass comment is that when Jose has only played in 9 of our 22 games??? 6 games to go!!! This is why you come across as a TROLL. You show no sense of reason or perspective when you comment on things. Jose is a PG in the Triangle Offense, he's not supposed to have a "winning impact". The PG in the Triangle is there to fill in offensively and keep the ball moving. Just go and look at all the PG's Phil has had and you'll see a very similar impact from that position. Jose has had an up and down season so far in his short time but he is not our problem. When Jose is back as mid season form you won't really have anything to say, but since he's had some poor performances you take this opportunity to kick dirt like he's a bum.
Jose is definitely able to help but other players have to finish plays and execute at a higher level. When JR started driving it made a huge difference and that is ALWAYS there for him to do if he chooses to do it. Guys have to hit shots and do all the other things needed for a team to win. Jose can't change the lack of rebounding and he can't make guys think the game faster. He hasn't yet played at his full potential yet. IMO when he does it will help. The issue is not getting enough from the SG/SF spot in particular. This killed us last year too. Melo has turned to playing more like a PF and so if you look at our production from SG/SF it's been weak. These players handle the ball a lot and take a lot of shots. They have to be efficient and execute at a higher level.

So looks like you haven't bothered to look at Jose's numbers
His assists are way down, way down from career averages
Look at how drastic Jose's AST/TO ratio has changed
And how bad his defense is
Now you want shirk blame on his teammates
But why didn't you factor this from the beginning
You figured Calderon to have significant impact on our TEAM's success and individual player success
But if you want to dumb down the role of the point guard in this system
Then we don't need someone like Jose at $7.5mil
When for the most part anyone can run it [e.g. 36-37yr old Pablo]
In another week we're in the middle of December
And will have compiled 20 losses or more, what don't you understand about time and schedule
This isn't baseball mi amigo, there aren't 162gms on the schedule

The backcourt play/production has been erratic at best. We simply have not been able to get consistent scoring from the SG spot. It it time to consider bringing Shumpert off the bench instead of using him as a starter? Let's face it, if defense is the reason he is on the starting 5, our record proves that he is ineffective. If he is not a consistent defender and can't score consistently, why is he in the starting line up?
Making excuses for the team by saying Jose has not acclimated himself is fine if you go in for that sort of thing. But most people who watch him play can see him for what he is: a way-below average NBA athletic specimen who gets dusted by opposing guards routinely and whose basic distribution game is lacking regular penetration abilities or creativity. He's ordinary in almost every respect and sub-par in the rest. His FG% may recover, but if that is the one above average thing about him, then he better hop to it, because right now he is sucking.
Jose means jackchit to the future of this club. Get rid of him. He's about the last thing I can imagine building around.
Jose Calderon's contract is an insult to the notion of getting good value for your money. He doesn't help our cap space at all. He needs to go.

Nixluva all Platitudes when the team sits 0-0
As soon as we're sub .400 he got the scripted excuses in the chamber loaded

I kind of admire his dogged determination to keep the excuses flowing in the name of hope. It may be a quality that would allow him to survive atrocities that would kill others.
