So what! One thing has nothing to do with the other. This is the problem with the pessimistic approach. Just cuz it's easy to pick against the Knicks from year to year due to the poor management of the team, that doesn't mean that it should forever be a default position. The 54 win team at least proved that you can make an analysis of the team on the floor based on the talent and how it should fit and perform. Now in the end the Management of the team did fail them but that is now changed and we have a new management team in place. You shouldn't use the same old "bet against anything Knicks" approach anymore. You can decide to do it as you are but that doesn't make it a smart bet. Over the years I make my assessments based on what I believe the team should be able to do. I never count in Dolan't interference as that is impossible to predict. Now he has allowed Phil to do his thing and I believe it should stay that way as Phil has shown he can make good management decisions. Good analysts don't make their judgements based on past Dolan meddling either.

Franchise players don’t grow on trees and Melo makes the Knicks a playoff competitor now and will increase the appeal of the franchise to free agents next summer. Anthony will be coached by Derek Fisher, who wasn’t the Knicks' first choice but may end up being the best fit. Fisher has been lavished with praise by people inside the organization for his work ethic and leadership in the short time he has been on the job and is well equipped to run Phil Jackson’s triangle offense.
New York also landed a strong point guard to run the offense in Calderon, a polished shooter who will stabilize a weakness for the Knicks last season. The price -- Tyson Chandler -- was steep but Calderon’s steady hand (career-low 1.3 turnovers per game last season) and three-point shooting (44.9 percent) is a significant upgrade from the uneven Raymond Felton. Shane Larkin is an interesting change of pace point guard prospect while Samuel Dalembert is still a decent defender in the middle.
Despite not having a first-round pick the Knicks grabbed a first round talent in Wichita State’s Cleanthony Early, who slipped to No. 34. Early is an athletic, defensive minded forward who thrives in the open floor and could provide minutes to the second unit next season.

They didn't necessarily say teams improved. They rated their offseason moves. They mention Lowry and Melo resigning as big parts of offseason success for their respective teams. Reasonable contracts, not forcing trades, retaining important players etc. Not an improvement rating but rather making smart moves and not losing guys that the team needed. Nets got a C but the net fans I know are really disappointed that Pierce left, especially with the team getting nothing for him.

Yeah this was just on the moves, but IMO the Knicks greatest jump is going to come from the change in Culture. The move to the Triangle and a team oriented approach is huge IMO. If anyone doubts just how much this team underachieved playing ISO ball they need to watch some game tape and see just how awful that offense was and then compare that to the way the kids played in the SL. It's NIGHT and DAY. That is gonna make more a difference than any single player move. The change to the Triangle PLUS the moves Phil made will make for a huge improvement IMO. I don't see any other team in the East with the potential for as much of an improvement save for the Bulls and Cavs. Adding Rose and Lebron is a huge deal for those teams, but this team should do better than last year just executing a team concept for a change. 37 wins was an aberration IMO. I think this team can win the Atlantic if they really buy in.

The article was just about offseason moves. The Knicks had no picks, a horrible point guard, a saboteur at center that was limited, injury prone, and far from a leader. Phil made some moves and the Knicks are better or the same at the positions they addressed and they gained youth and picks.
Pretty sure you got the boot here before and that was why I asked about your previous posting name. I get it you can find a negative in any move but you try really hard. Just like a guy that lost his posting priveleges that you used to post here.
His credibility went down in my mind when he gave the Sixers a D. The Sixers have a plan to get early picks by being bad for another year or two to accumulate talent. /They already have their pg and their center. In a few years, they'll dominate the Atlantic.
