Knicks · Acy to the Knicks (page 1)

The New York Knicks have acquired Quincy Acy and Travis Outlaw from the Sacramento Kings for Wayne Ellington, Jeremy Tyler and a 2016 second round pick, according to two sources.

The Kings are expected to release Tyler and use the stretch provision on Ellington.

the 2nd round pick was already owed to the kings with restrictions. knicks have removed the restrictions and it's now the kings outright.

ex raptor legend quincy acy is now a knick.

he's a decent player for a second round pick. hustle, energy guy. undersized tho.

F500ONE @ 8/6/2014 4:57 PM
Okay I like Quincy Acy he has a major motor although offense needs work.

Other than this the trade is not good

How many posters here were high on Jeremy Tyler?

JamaicanJetFan @ 8/6/2014 5:00 PM
Wait, so we're just dumping Jeremy Tyler??
callmened @ 8/6/2014 5:00 PM
I like acy..and his motor
smackeddog @ 8/6/2014 5:00 PM
No idea who Acy is- can someone give info? Outlaw is awful though!
F500ONE @ 8/6/2014 5:05 PM
I'm wanna be first to reach on Acy's upside.

He has Kenneth Faried potential, no need to cave in giving up Shumpert for Faried

Clean @ 8/6/2014 5:05 PM
I remember this guy KILLED our team last season or was it the season before it. He killed us with pure hustle and that lead to a ton of momentum breaking scores.
Clean @ 8/6/2014 5:07 PM
I ended up finding a video of when he was killing the Knicks.

From the Knicksblog:
Taking Tyler’s spot on the roster will be Acy, an absolute bulldog on defense. He’s as intense and as loud as they can, proving to be an intimidating force down low when he fights for rebounds. Ultimately, he’s a role player who can down and dirty with just about anyone. He’ll be an instant fan-favorite.

Color this as another one in the win column for Jackson & Co. Such a move doesn’t come with a big splash, but it’s a smart one to make, nonetheless.

I love Acy's game and think that this was a solid move. For those that don't know who to compare him to, he is something of a more polished Reggie Evans/Ivan Johnson type. He'll be a rotation player off the bench for us. Kudos to Phil.
CrushAlot @ 8/6/2014 5:17 PM
Acy has freakish measurements. He is 6'6" but has just under a 7'3" wingspan and he has giant mitts. Love this move. Nice to have competent management.

I saw Tyler play quite a bit in Summer League.

I wonder if the triangle was too much for him to grasp

Quincy also played this summer I believe

LIVE BODY! In the big picture it's just a move to add a little something to the roster we didn't have. We didn't need another SG and Tyler is a nice prospect but when would he play on this team? Acy is just a role player but what he provides can be useful. Nothing sexy but he got rid of Ellington which was what he wanted to do.
CrushAlot @ 8/6/2014 5:24 PM
Outlaw is only 29. Seems like he has been around forever. I wonder if he can bring anything to the table.

Well he's Amnesty money for Brooklyn my guess he won't.

We do have Cleanthony, let's not forget about him

We did this trade for Acy and nothing more.

This trade is Jeremy Tyler, 2016 second pick for Acy, that's it

knickscity @ 8/6/2014 5:28 PM
So our PF's are shaping up to be some bruisers and rebounders who play defense? First Smith, now Acy.

I see ya Phil, and I see even less Melo at the 4.

Good deal imo, nothing of note given up, got a useful player back....and Outlaw expires after this season, so thats good in itself.

He was okay when on the blazers but completely lost his game when the nets signed him- has been MIA ever since. Honestly don't know what happened.

What's Acy's and outlaws contract situation? Sorry I'm on the train and have crap reception!

The thing that struck me with Tyler in the summer league was his terrible conditioning- he was huffing and puffing from day one- very disappointing.

NO YOU DIDN'T.. lol YOU WENT from Jeremy tyler high upside, to "when is he going to get playing time".. I find this to be a trend around here when guys are shipped out.... so now Quincy Acy=good, and tyler= blah!!!

I actually like players like this. It's not how high your head is. The arm length is a huge factor. Being able to move and have great reach is so important. He can move like a guard but still get up and get the ball. LOVE his energy tho and that kind of player really adds something to a team.

Outlaw is kind of a forgotten man. At the least he has experience and good size. I thought he was Ok at one point in his career, but he's fallen off a lot. Don't know if he'll stick around.

Thanks! Sounds like Phil is sticking to his plan of adding more tenacious players who play infectious defense.
