Knicks · Vince Carter on fire against the Spurs, then Bruce Bowen tries to break his leg. This is old and OT but its the off-season... (page 1)

This is so dirty! How does the NBA allow this to happen? This stuff should be monitored and players who do this should be suspended.

Draftnet's player comparison for Thanasis is Bowen
Silverfuel @ 8/11/2014 12:39 PM
Wow he did it several times
Cartman718 @ 8/11/2014 12:45 PM
this is old news. bowen even went on a tv interview to say he was not a dirty player and that THAT was not intentional but really, he had no legs to stand on once the video was played back to him on multiple occasions. i believe the nba now has strict rules against this.

this is the one blemish popovich has on his coaching career to allow a player to do this crap under him.

NardDogNation @ 8/11/2014 2:07 PM
Yeah, Bowen was dirty and kind of a moron. Guys like Vince Carter were, in effect, his meal ticket because no one comes to the games to see Bowen D-up a guy. So why even risk the possibility of hurting Vince?

Some dudes deserve to get their ass beat. Bruce Bowen was one of those dudes. The stuff he use to do could cost players tens of millions of dollars in future earnings, which is an unforgivable offense. Who knows how all of that stuff factored into the chronic leg issues that Vince Carter had later in his career.

Nalod @ 8/11/2014 2:21 PM
Nets up by 5, then Carter has a diva and lose by 10.

Guess what, its what they did.

Spurs didn't win this game but won the series in what was the best team suns had in that era. They found a way to slow down Nash.
Its cheap, its mean, but its big boy stuff that worked.

Spurs got bling. Bowen got bling. He also got paid. He did what it took to stick in the NBA. Dude was marginal but found a way.

Ridiculous that JR gets suspended for untying some shoe laces and dubbed a headaches and a modern day monster, where as Bowen got away with that injury causing crap for years and was praised as a smart defensive pro.

Watching that first vid, it reminded me that I do regret not watching more of Vince and T-Mac in their primes. At the time I had no interest in their teams, but I wish I'd made the effort now

Ditto. I still wonder what could have been had they stayed together in Toronto. They might not have been as good as MJ-Pippen but I definitely think they would've been more exciting. Back then, they were able to beat the elite teams in the league but had an odd tendency to loss to bad teams. Over time, I think they would've matured and simply beat everyone.

When they changed the rules, those tactics went away. Blame the rules.

I used to like watching Kidd and Carter in persson when they came to Charlotte. They were amazing together. Carter would also run the point a few minutes a game and his passing was amazing. Long arms and hand strength he could do things with the ball that was amazing.
Too bad some of you Net Haters were blind to what good ball they played. No, I was no fan of that team but I would go see some players and combo of players.

Nash and Amare..........

Back in the day Stockton a Malone were another combo worthy of seeing in person.
