Knicks · To put Melo and his valuation as NBA player in perspective (page 1)

Under Armour is reportedly offering Kevin Durant an endorsement deal somewhere in the ballpark of $285 million over 10 years.

What is the exact point you're making with this post? I'm not sure what you are trying to say here.

My point is that Melos contract is not too big.
Numbers are big but the bigger stars are paid way more that Melo.
Also Dolan with all his money cannot offer enough to get true start just to get paid.
Also playing in NY is not so important any more to get top $$$.
With cap going up to may be 80 Melo is just another player and not a obstacle to get better dude.
Also Malos contract is not as big as it cannot be traded if Melo will get fed up of triangle brainwashing.
In any case its all cool.

nixluva @ 8/22/2014 12:53 AM
Melo will get more outside money when he's winning in NY. It really is that simple. His endorsements will increase along with his success on the court. I don't worry about how much we're paying him anyway. Phil wasn't worried so why should I worry? All that matters now is Melo having a successful year and the team winning games.
jrodmc @ 8/22/2014 8:12 AM
So now we can smoothly bash Melo's valuation, MSG's valuation and Melo's 'little' contract all at once.

Hate, it's so undervalued.

We're fortunate to have gotten Melo for $160 mill less than Under Armour got Durant for!

so because melo

A) has been a loser his entire nba career means that

B) he doesn't get as much endorsement money therefore

C) he must make that much more money in salary

D) even if he stands to compromise the team from acquiring high-profile players that will help him be a winner?

lots of pretzels in somebody's diet

It's this city that brings Melo incredible lucrative deals correct

Could it be winning and losing matters, along with being transcendent

Like if you're gonna lose, lose in a city like New York

You can still be relatively famous

Or in order to reach peak marketing pull, you have to have synergistic qualities

With winning basketball traits that translates with consumers

Melo carries himself as if, as long as we love him he's good///// on top of world

Or as long as his team[people around him] are down then he's good

Not that he should be playing for record breaking marketing deals

This does speak to how important winning is, no matter what city you're playing in

All that matters is if the Knicks win regardless of individual success of players

On or off the court

i laid things out in a syllogistic form so that the WTFers can easily deconstruct false premises and conclusions-- such as they are.

there are two ways to go that i have borne witness to over the years:

(1) <crickets> and <bullfrogs>

or

(2) a shyte-ton of verbiage in block paragraph form that is meant to misdirect and obfuscate, with a healthy sprinkling of personal lowbrow insults-- all which undermines an actual dialogue.

CrushAlot @ 8/22/2014 11:05 AM
Article from last fall has Melo making 9 mil annually in endorsement money.

This is just nonsense- repeating it over and over and over again doesn't make it true. After drafting him, the nuggets went from winning 17 games, to winning 43. Every year he was there they had a winning record, and every year he's been here he's had a winning record (apart from last seasons disaster)

Too many are interested in presenting silver trays

to Melo as if they're his personal butlers

I hardly ever talk about Melo's past or current off the court conquests

As they have no direct connection to Knicks Team success

It makes no sense to have Melo's charity, philanthropist, endorsement, salary figures

Statue, Wax figure pics etc etc next to your personal social security card and birth certificate of your only child

As far as Durant goes, he's extremely tangible and naturally likeable

He does need to reach the mountain top though, the clock is ticking

Actually we've been pretty much .500 or below with exception to the 54win team

14-14
36-30 he missed like 6-7gms[Lin streak]
54-28
37-45

Let's repeat facts, if we're concerned with what's being repeated

Love the Lin streak inclusion. Those seven games were against some of the worst teams in the league. It came up so much that I used to know how many games under .500 that group was. Too bad Melo came back to help that team go 18-5 down the stretch, make the playoffs and get player of the month for April.

Every year he's been here we've had a winning record apart from last year- that IS a fact! Now you're erasing wins in games he didn't play in- has anyone ever done this for any other player on any other team, or is it just another case of the ridiculous 'Melo Standards'.

You mean like last year when we went like 16-5 to close the season

Against the likes of

Utah twice
Cleveland twice
Philly twice
Lakers
Kings
Bucks
Boston
Minnesota
