Since Bledsoe is seeking a MAX deal, 5year, 80m deal

I don't think we can actually acquire him
IF it is a SIGN and TRADE
Since we are repeat tax offenders

I think Bledsoe is worth it because he has lockdown potential on DEF with his physical abilities of speed/quickness/athleticism and strength

Along with his improved shooting, ability to penetrate/finish, facilitate a team learning from the best PG in the league in CP3 for a couple years as his versatility to play PG and some SG
He fits well with Calderon, can continue to learn and develop here but the triangle doesn't need a PG of his caliber
His "max" is much less than the vets, at a bit over 15m per year

bledsoe, melo and some other guy = championship

Would love Bledsoe, Gasol & Milsap but that's not happening now that Melo signed for Supermax $$$$$

A bit of Scottie Pippen type player would be preferred but a YOUNG Shawn Marion ala Battum could be good enough with the combination of length/athletcism/floor spacing/versatility on both OFF and DEF

While using our bird rights to resign a bunch of PF/C's/BIGS and possible trades for ALL STAR's or 2nd/3rd tier Caliber talents like Al Jefferson/Paul Millsap/AL Horford/David Lee etc

Bi Annuel Exemption/MLE/Trade exemptions

This summer, The Heat with their big 3 opting out, the Danny Granger rumored LLE and then McRoberts MLE, brings the question of using both exemptions with the player options/bird rights to our players
Using 2m + right under 3m (for next summer) for Bi Annual Exemption aka LLE or going over the luxury tax and using the full 5m MLE (will be closer to 6m)
If we can get some steals like Spencer Hawes this summer, with other talents like Reggie Jackson/Rudy Gay/Ginobili/Parker/Asik/Robin Lopez/Wesley Mathews or 2 players like Lin and James Johnson/Granger/Gereld Green/Nick Collison/Brandon Rush *if returns back to his prior self prior to his major knee surgery as a G/F*/ Danny Green
NOT sure if we can technically use both the LLE and then the FULL 5m MLE in the same season, by resigning early bird rights to our players and the bird rights to STAT/AB etc
That is why draft picks are very valuable, they can exceed their value's as any team can RESIGN them and go over the cap, while making other moves with trades/cap space much like Net's did though it hasn't worked out
While for the bird rights of some higher paid players like STAT/AB, I think we actually need to rescind their rights in order sign free agents therefore losing the ability to go over the cap to resign them without using exemptions, therefore losing them for nothing if we used the cap space to sign talents to lucrutive deals

Still could use the trade exemption gained from the Dallas, Tyson Chandler/Calderon of $3,637,073 trade exception, that could be used within 1 year of the date acquired *though if we didn't use it by this deadline, it would eat up our salary cap/flexibility in cap space that we could use
If we can somehow use this exemption to get another pick/young talent like Eric Bledsoe *if he signs a Qualifying Offer* or

On top of all of this, JR Smith likely will OPT OUT and he is in a contract year, as well as Iman Shumpert, and a few vets like Dalembert/Jason Smith/STAT/AB/Cole Aldrich/Pablo
We could in return look to trade some of these players for trade exemptions, future picks *especially early/mid 2nd rounders that actually have more value than late 1st rounders as they are UNGUARANTEED contracts that are less with 3 to 4 year TEAM OPTIONS like Parsons/Cleanthony Early

We COULD also trade the rights to our 1st rounder next summer, along with another future 1st rounder after 2017, and 2nd rounders/draft rights/ trade exemptions for an ALL STAR caliber talent, that could put us over the cap
For instance, if Durant or Noah forces their way to NY much like how CA did in 2010/2011 season, though we likely would need to show that we are competitive in the Triangle system to attract these talents for a Championship Pedigree/Dynasty, possibly Marc Gasol if we add enough talent that fits
Like I have said in many other threads, even if the STATE tax is much higher in NYK vs other cities/states, our advantage is ironically Dolan, who has shown the willingness to CONSISTENTLY OVERPAY for talents even when they have peaked, like Allan Houston/CA

WINNING in NYK, is a great multiple effect like no other city/state
Also Dolan and NYK can offer off the court incentives/business opportunities that no other city besides LA can, "Linsanity" having a phenomenal stretch of world wide Knick fans being an example, now put a RING on it and it could be multiplied...
Lets not undersestimate the power of networks that Dolan can bring and his own MSG channels can offer through informercials and possible reality TV shows, as loopholes for ALL STAR's, and role players being paid in other ways besides an NBA contract along with promises of future jobs AFTER their NBA careers that MSG/Dolan/Phil Jackson can offer

Another player I really think could become a HUGE steal if continues development is Tony Wroten, a combo guard currently with Philly
He showed flashes of great size/speed/quickness/athleticism with improved handle/penetration/3pt shooting last season and is still developing, could be another Lance Stephenson type talent

Adekentempo (would fit very well if develops next to Bledsoe with their attacking style on DEF) or even Durant utilizing his length/athleticism at SG

Things can change but as of right now, this is my #1 target. Not a potential FA out there I like any better for us and that includes Marc Gasol, Greg Monroe, etc.. Not sure how we get him though. Depends on some things: does he wind up settling for his QO? If he does, it could signal that the relationship between PHX and Bledsoe really has soured -- in that case, look for PHX to move him at all costs by the deadline. Dude's too talented not to try and move him if it becomes clear he's gonna bolt on them after the season...Now PHX could trade him anywhere but it doesn't mean he'll re-sign with that team (esp. if it's not a S&T which Bledsoe would have to approve first).. We'll still have a shot, if we even like this player. Who knows if we do. I certainly do. Might be the best opportunity in some time to land a top NBA PG, something we haven't had in a LONG, LONG time (very good yr last yr, even after he came back from the knee problem -- I'm not even sure he's peaked yet) -- that's what I find most intriguing about acquiring him. This could be a major acquisition and at the right position too (who wouldn't want a top PG, even though as it's been pointed out, a move for Eric Bledsoe is rife with risk?). If he signs the QO and PHX doesn't move him--you figure that'll be our best chance to get him. I can't picture PHX letting it get to that point though--kinda feels like wishful thinking...

Not sure if it's tampering or not (probably is) but I'd actually consider having Melo say something to this dude during the year like "Phil can't say it and you didn't hear it for me--I'll deny it--but I've been asked to pass along that NY's prepared to offer you a lucrative deal and the starting PG spot when the time comes. If that sounds favorable, sit tight, keep it on the DL and we'll continue this conversation at another time." Players talk to each other all the time -- you can't convince me stuff like this doesn't happen. If we like this guy, might be worth taking a calculated gamble--let him know before it's too late.

I don't think he has done enough to be a max player at his level but I would be interested in him at $12m. I would like to see him put together another year playing at a high level. despite that, the only way he gets to NY realistically is if he signs his QO.BY signing the QO he then has a no trade clause to go only where he wants too. Maybe Houston trys to go after him. The only other teams without a pg are Milwaukee, maybe Utah, and NY. I guess Orlando is another place but they just drafted a pg.

On another note: His agent is Rich Paul(Lebron) and he learned the craft from Leon Rose(Melo).

Dude played 4 seasons. 240 games.

His second season he only played 40 games. Last year came back from injury and played 43.

Of course he wants max money and security. No way I'd give that two him without a team option.

Hey, if we can get him for less, I am all for it, but regardless, LOCKDOWN DEFENDERS at his age that can defend multiple positions, bring a triple double threat, have amazing combination of speed/quickness/athleticism/strength and still can hit the 3pter shows his potential
At Guard, he can steal/block shots, finish/initiate a fast break, with that speed and quickness before any team's DEF can get set

Also play behind CP3 for 2 years, learning how to orchestrate/facilitate/ and be a leader vocally/off the court/ and on the court
Yes, if he is being paid for what he has done as opposed to what he can do, he isn't "worthy" of a max contract
But he was also playing behind CP3, the best PG in the league, along with his injuries/aggressive style

I am saying I would rather have Bledsoe at a max than Marc Gasol, because speed/quickness is much more important than size in today's game, also their "max" salaries would be 3-6m apart due to their ages while Gasol could be on decline while Bledsoe can still improve
Marc Gasol's MAX deal would be closer to a 5year 100m deal, than Bledsoe at 5year 80m deal, since we paid to keep CA at 5 year 127m, it leaves us less "wiggle room" while we still need LOCK DOWN DEFENDERS and skills needed in order to be REAL contenders, and he fits that criteria, though not necessariliy at the PG position due to the system we are implimenting at Triangle, at least not from the way it was previously used

Look at how effective Wroten was when given 30minutes + in a game, I believe he is a TOP 10 lottery type pick for next summers draft if he were to enter it
Now his value could multiply if he continues to improve his season and I think we should try to steal him from Philly as they are looking to collect assets and dump talent/clear salaries till both Noel/Embid are able to play together, along with Philly concentrating on the development of MCW and Noel

IN OTHER WORDS, BUY NOW, WHILE WE STILL CAN, his potential outweighs what Lin produced during the stretch, and because he isn't Asian, he will be accepted by CA, Stephen A Smith, along with the BIG PG in the Triangle

It would be great if we can get both Bledsoe and Wroten but I would REACH and give an offer to Philly that they would have trouble in resisting

His ceiling can be as high as Manu/Harden but much better defensive player in my opinion

E'Twaun Moore is another free agent that I think is under rated though his potential isn't as high as Wroten's he is a UFA, that we could sign to a 2year TEAM OPTION deal at the vet min

I like Jeff Adrien, though he signed a 2year vet min deal with Houston

Jeffrey Taylor from the Bobcats is another solid role player at the G/F position that could be the odd man out with the additions of

We could still bag 2 of those, maybe. I would say no to Bledose due to injuries (and we all know we never get lucky when it comes to signing injury prone players). Gasol and Milsap would be nice!

I wouldn't rule out us making a run at Reggie Jackson- he's a restricted FA (I think), and the Thunder are pretty tight when it comes to spending, plus Fisher will be familiar with him. Depends on how Calderon, Larkin, and our 3 SG's do, I suppose.

I like Bledsoe's talent, but is he considered a good character guy? It looks like we are building a 'team', and character will be considered when looking to sign or trade for players. Is he that guy?

Haven't read anything bad about him- or anything about his attitude at all, come to think of it. Maybe he's just a quiet guy- had CP3 as his mentor for a year which can't be a bad thing. I think he's getting some bad advice by his agent regarding his new contract, but I'm not aware of any problems regarding his play or locker room presence

I guess it all comes back to Amare again. If we can move him to Philly, we would be in position to do a S&T. Problem there is giving up the few assets that we are starting to acquire when Bledsoe could be signed next year

We could theoretically sign both Dragic and Bledsoe next season. That'd make for a pretty dynamic backcourt in the triangle. If we somehow finagled Greg Monroe into the fold, we'd be golden...not championship caliber but pretty good. That would mean dumping all contracts except Carmelo and Hardaway though and even then it'd be difficult to pull off unless the cap is raised again.
