I think I'll buy MLB extra innings on a quarterly basis instead of for the full season next year. No point in having it and not watching in the 2nd half.
Young Steinbrenners have no guts. They already extended Girardi after missing the playoffs last year
Might be time to start rooting for the Mets
The team is unwatchable. I would not spend the money to watch them for a full season
I know, the assumption is SOMEONE has go to be better than Cashman or Girardi!!!
But who is it? Who can management trust?
Hire someone that just did a good job and think that can transfer right away like an athlete can?
The roster and financials are what they are and unless the directive is to rebuild and take the financial hit that comes with it
the team will try to make a hybrid of both.
If you leave Yanks to root for mets on the basis of the last few years your not really a dyed in the wool fan. Your basically "ro
Put it this way, despite having every conceivable advantage, the team only won one championship in the past 13 years. If championships were given out just by flipping coins, almost half the teams would have a ring every 13 years.
They had money.
Lets talk Cardinals. NO money but a way of growing assets and using them in many ways.
Yanks gotta pay for the stadium and keep ratings up.
Oh woa is the yankee fans spoiled on the feast of the Core Fore (and Bernie)..........
The Roid George Era is over. That was the big advantage.
Who wins a championship sooner: The Knicks or the Yankees?
neither but the knicks are actually in better shape with Phil & Derek running the show

I think you have to pick the yanks simply because there is no hard cap in baseball. Spend that unlimited cash wisely and you can contend for a chip pretty quickly. Mistakes can be absorbed without hurting future signings, etc.
yanks had a chance to reload but gave money to rodrigues. i pretty much lost interest after that and the yankees are my team.

Yeah, the two and only two sports teams I'm into are the Yankees and Knicks. The 2010s decade has been harsh.

having been born and raised in manhattan i'm knicks, yanks, giants, rangers. you don't follow football?

I was so pissed when Rodriguez opted out and walked and that idiot Steinbrenner son convinced him to come back behind the scenes. Awful, awful move.

yup it doesnt matter if Arod is garbage or great on the field. He gets all the attention good and bad and makes the yankees richer

No, just never got into football or hockey.
Aroid was to break all the records and fill the seats with those wanting to see history.
Its easy to say in hindsight we should have let him go. Both sides clusterphuched it badly.

I thought A Rod was the worst move by the yankees. No need for hindsight, as I think a lot of people thought so at the time.

he was not a playoff performer. his head was never right. i don't recall ever seeing him get a clutch hit in the postseason... well maybe one. torre moved him down to the seventh spot once. scott brosius was a more valuable yankee.
1. George was in charge in 2007 when the opt out controversy happend.
2. 2009 he was
post season MVP and yanks win world series.
My point was his trajectory was differrent than what history can tell us.
Naturally to reboot that contract AGAIN was not a good move for the Yanks one can see AT THAT TIME the business aspect of it
and how the return of investment could be made as Arod moved into baseball's elite all time and excceded some of Bonds records.
From the time Paul O'neils resurgent career and temper tantrums to Scott Brocious becoming "Babe Ruth" one had to suspect Yanks roid use was pretty heavy.
Im not saying Yanks were the only ones but at the organizational level it had to have been known but contracts were still offered as it was throughout MLB.
Im sure most of us shook our heads when Arod got reupped at that staggering number and at the same time a sense of relief in 2009 when he seemed to have shook off his post season demons.
Given that, I think to lay special claim in "I told you so" is not so unique. Same with Amare's signing. WE all read the same thing about his knees and what could happen to his back.
To shyt on the yankees while we say good bye to Jeets and of course nobody can see a bright future is the media does not show it to us is not a special talent.
Yanks need never win in our lifetimes and they will still be the greatest pro franchise in History. Parity is now upon us and the money is not at the advantage it once was.
So which one of you special talent prognosticators gonna predict doom?
Whoa is the NY mecca media fed sports fan!!!

Wasn't George totally senile at that point and his sons were basically in charge?

George stepped down in 2009. As to how sharp he was at that point or his involvment I don't know.
