Knicks · How Do We Begin the Process of Getting Marc Gasol Into a Knick Jersey? (page 1)

NardDogNation @ 9/9/2014 12:37 AM
The future belong to those who prepare for it today. With that being said, what steps can we take to woo Marc Gasol to New York? What package can we assemble to sign and trade for him in 2015?

He's not going to fill any stat sheet and isn't going to put fans in the seats but I think he's good enough to make us into a title contender with Melo already on board. When you look at his skillset, I can't think of a better center to have in the triangle and he is still young enough for us to enjoy watching him in his prime for the remainder of his new contract.

It starts with being a playoff team. I personally think Lopez is the better choice given age, defense, & price.

He reminds me of Brad Miller. Marc Gasol had this mystique about him and he's really good in international play. I just can't wrap myself around the idea that he is the only piece we're talking about. Adding him would be nice but I don't want to over pay like we did chandler.

A lot is going into this rebuild and depending how fast the guys pick the system up and get that chemistry, that would determine what we need to do. This season were kinda in limbo until the games start.

wait - 14.6, 7.2 & 1.3

I think we can get comparable numbers out of Cole Aldrich, or some combination of a multiheaded center such as Phil has used in the past, Shaq excepted.

I think we need to spend the money/cap room on skilled players - a PG, a SG or PF that can shoot & score.

I tend to think Phil's ideal big man is bill wennington, luc longley, etc.

Robin, I'm guessing?

Marc would be awesome but I'd love to snag Dragic, Afflalo, Millsap, or Aldridge as well. I think they're all upcoming FA IIRC. Not sure, LA might've just signed.

Don't think you're going to get 3-4 APG from Cole Aldrich/Dalembert/JasonSmith.

There is going to be so much $$$ available on the market next year its going to be tough for any team to sell. Im sure Memphis will max him out and that is 30-40 mm more than we can offer. And while Gasol is a really good C he is no Patrick Ewing type.
