dude is going to make a shitload of money on the deal.. he bought the nets for 200mil 4 years ago.. amazing when you think about it.
RonRon @ 10/2/2014 10:02 PM
umm he also invested in 1billion or more in The Barclays center
Add the loss they had last season as tax offenders and this year, it isn't as great as it sounds
gunsnewing @ 10/2/2014 10:15 PM
Pocket change for him
EnySpree @ 10/2/2014 10:17 PM
He needs to give it up. The Brooklyn nets are a side show. If they are going to be successful they ate going to need to get back to basketball. Ask the gimmicks ate going to kill that franchise.

They have something good now with hollins as the coach. It needs to trickle down from there.

NardDogNation @ 10/2/2014 11:37 PM
Anyone interested in pulling together cash to purchase the Nets? I got $200 if anyone's interested.
gunsnewing @ 10/3/2014 5:10 AM
His biggest mistake was hiring Billy King. He is awful. Almost as bad as our previous GM's

Still can't believe the Gerald Wallace for Damian Lliard trade. What a stinker. Talk about taking the air out of the balloon

smackeddog @ 10/3/2014 10:34 AM
Good, we'll no longer have to see the media fawning over him- it was pathetic!

And trading most of their picks for the next hundred years for a year of old pierce and 2 years of washed up KG- a real, crippling blow thats going to screw them for the next few years.

I think it was a great gamble but kidd was shaky as a first year coach and they had brutal injuries

gunsnewing @ 10/3/2014 11:05 AM
Remember they did not give up any lottery picks like they did with the Wallace trade. If the knicks had the chance to add Pierce and KG to Melo for non lottery picks I would jump at the opportunity. It's all about fielding a team that gives you a chance. The nets have themselves a chance until everything unraveled with kidd, brook and dwill. Much better bus de than what some 20 something draft pick would get them
gunsnewing @ 10/3/2014 11:09 AM
I'm not for trading LOTTERY picks for older injury riddled players. Some we as Knick fans have become accustomed to but late first round picks is fine if you are adding pieces that help you go on a deep run. Not always and I will give you an example. KG & Pierce would've helped he knicks last year BUT we traded a 1st for Bargnani. The End

as if you and others knew the 8th pick would be ROY Lilliard?
ANd you have Deron Williams on your team.

You don't make that pick anyway unless its in hindsight.

Im not a Net apologist and their record speaks for itself. The picks for Pierce and Garnett seemed overblown at the time as they were OLD but as role players it could have been better. The chemistry was not there and Kidd is partially to blame. Injuries to Bropez and Deron would derail anyteam.

While they gave up too many picks the yoot of Plumlee and getting Bogdanovich is actually pretty decent and makes them younger. Markel Brown is an interesting pick and could help them as well.
I think Pierce and Joe Johnson was redundant and problematic.

Financially the team tax payments are out of line and not in a good place. This is a problem for them.
It reminds me of the Isiah days but at least the team has made the playoffs.

I don't see them as contending this year and thus with that kind of payroll its a failure. Like most teams the health of big names will determine their fate.

Oh how the big man has fallen. Wonder what our "little" troll owner is thinking now...

The Barklays Center, soon to be the new

gunsnewing @ 10/3/2014 11:54 AM
Is Proko actively selling the team or did he respond with "if the price is right"

I would certainly expect so, otherwise I'm pulling back to $7.

I'll put in $100 if we can have the team moved to Wyoming.

I wish Dolan would immediately take out a billboard across the street from the Barclays with a picture of Phil Jackson saying
"Blueprints are only as good as your architect"

Umm.........Glad RainRain not my advisor!

Dude would be a fool to not listen.

Team is estimated to be worth 1.7Bil. He owns 80% which he paid 2.23million for. Even with his losses he makes out HUGE! He lost 144mil last year.
Lost 12mil the year before He is on the hook for 80%, or 132mil.

Lets do some simple for RainRain math:

$1.7x80%=
$1.36billion-
-$223million (what he paid)
-$132million (two years of losses)
_____________________________________

$1,005,000,000 Thats over a billion profit.

THe arena is worth about 1.1 billion to which he owns 45% of. The arena is one of the busiest in the country!
No way he loses money on that deal. The building likely went up in value.

He wins off the court BIG.

On the court is a different story. The Clippers sale threw it all in a different light. With interest rates so low taking on Debt to buy a team is also driving up prices.
The Costs of borrowing is very low.

So, Ummmm, how that not great as it sounds RainRain?
