The Detroit Pistons released Hasheem Thabeet, Brian Cook, Lorenzo Brown and Josh Bostic on Monday, the team announced.

All four players were on non-guaranteed deals for training camp.

Thabeet was one of the players who everyone had high hopes for him. Can we use him?

3rd string at best, he did ok when OKC used him like that. I'd pass though as we really need a starter and a real backup.
WaltLongmire @ 10/20/2014 11:35 PM
Should ask Jabbar to adopt him so he can learn the sky hook.

He started to play the game late in his life, I think. Never really got the fundamentals down to the point where they were second nature for him on the court. He will be 28 come February... not sure that even Jabbar can salvage his career at this point.

China beckons, I do think.

gotta hire jim calhoun if you want this guy to be successful.

pass -- this isn't a 'potential' pick any more

Yup, still remember him getting abused by DeJuan Blair in the NCAA finals. Haven't seen enough to justify taking a chance on him since Thabeet entered the league.

I'm more intrigued with Brown than anyone else from that list. He's a project, but he's got the potential to be developed into a triangle point guard. He has nice size and defensive potential. Needs to work on that J tho.
jrodmc @ 10/21/2014 1:06 PM
That's what the pistons have? A PG who can't shoot. Don't we have one of them already?

Is there really anyone on the Detroit roster you really want? Their lineup looks like the junk aisle at Walmart. Not that our bench is looking much better lately...

Ive watched him so many times that I can say fairly that he is somewhere between a 2nd and third C. He almost always has a play that makes you go hmmm.. hes a true monster but he's has bad hands poor footwork and just doesn't know the game that well. That being said he can have his moments in limited minutes. Is he a better rim protector than Cole A--maybe. I think the Knicks have worse problems than what we need at back up C. If the Knicks want to take a close look at him--thats why we have Westchester.

gunsnewing @ 10/21/2014 1:11 PM
Westchester is not intended for players like Thabeet though

I see Brown more as a developmental guy. I don't see him making a huge impact on a roster any time soon. Pistons already have a similar, but better version of Brown on the roster in Dinwiddie. Brown getting cut isn't a huge surprise.

Drummond and Monroe would easily be the best bigs on our roster by a mile...
