Are there any other teams that would be interested in trading for JR Smith
as a contract dump? The market looks scant and I could only see two teams having any kind of interest: the New Orleans Pelicans and the Indiana Pacers.
I think Dell Demps is an idiot and seems to have an affinity for reaching with players. And at the moment, the Pelicans don't have a legitimate swingman off the bench, which may make JR appealing to them. Considering how injury-prone Eric Gordon is, it'd be in their best interest to "strengthen" that SG position via trade. Personally, I could see Austin Rivers, Jimmer Fredette and a contract for JR and cash working out well for both sides.
As for the Pacers, they have a history of taking on low bball IQ malcontents, so maybe they'd be willing to accommodate JR Smith (e.g. Ron Artest, Shawne Williams, Jamal Tinsley, etc.). They'll need scoring this year with Stephenson and George gone/out, so they could use him as well. The issue here is finding the contracts to make it work. I'd have interest in George Hill but I'm not too sure the Pacers would do that in spite of his horrid contract.
Anyway, what do you guys think?
Who knows what Phil is thinking but I would guess he is gonna hold off until JR has a hot streak and then make a push to see what his value is. Pretty much what I think the plan is for STAT or BARGS. you have to be patient and wait for just the right moment in order to get the best deal.
JR looks interested or mybe hes just pacing himself becuse hes hurt (then why play???). i cant wait until hes off the team

Fair point but you also run the risk of waiting too long and having the market dry up for him, however faint the interest in him may have been. SG's are a dime a dozen and given JR's reputation, it may make teams more inclined to take lesser players just to avoid the headache that is JR. I wouldn't give up assets to move him but wouldn't hesitate if the opportunity to dump him became possible.
His market can only rise. I say that he is the wildcard to stay

Portland's had some trouble scoring off the bench so maybe they'd be interested in him. They've got quite a few expiring/attractive contracts, attached to non-rotation players that could make a deal possible e.g. Joel Freeland, Meyers Leonard, Victor Claver, etc. The Blazers have had an affinity for Knick rethreads in recent years (i.e. Jamal Crawford, Raymond Felton, Kurt Thomas, Marcus Camby, etc.), so maybe they'd be interested in continuing the legacy....
Make it seem that if he gets hot, his value goes up and its like a secret he's a moron.
I think Phish makes an attempt to get in to his head a bit and see if the Triangle can work with him.
How do I know? Just seems logical.
The ShangTse Dragons are still interested.
Triangle + JR = impossible.
The dude is an amazing athlete and one of the biggest numbskulls in the NBA. You can almost see him struggle to control his impulses to be the chucker he was born to be. He got no triangle in his bones. He needs to go asap.
Stat and Bargs have potential, but I will be happier when all three are finally off this team.

I think he's not the sharpest tool (just a tool) but I dont think his BB IQ is as low as some think. Nobody will call him heady but I think his game is more bad habits than a lack of understanding. He's a great, NBA elite caliber athlete and that shot is sick. He's also competetive and earning his rotation minutes and having some internal competition with Shump and THjr is the best thing for him. Keep him for now. Obviously if we resign Shump JR is a gone

Agree with this.
JR has a high basketball IQ and so does Melo, they are just selfish about getting their shots and suffer from extreme narcissism.
I think they are selfish, narcissistic and lack general IQ

Gotta be if they are tired from playing 25 minutes in preseason after having 4 days off at home.
Jr would likely be in China if it wasnt for the Knicks. There is no best deal for JR because no one really wants him. The team also really has no one to package him with, and he has his player option looming over his contract as well, so if a team did trade for him they may be stuck with him another year on top.
I still don't get why we signed JR last year. I don't care if he played for free. Can never forget Chris Smith

THJr and Shump are playing really well and staying within the system....JR Smith keeps breaking away from it. I would love to move him but I think the Knicks are basically stuck with him.
Can we salary dump him off to Atlanta? They need a shooting guard

Kyle Korver is still there. I know they have some youngsters in a back up role.
