would shumpert have developed into a better player if he were not on ny?
or do you think this is what he is?
gunsnewing@ 10/27/2014 2:54 PM
1) he tore his acl 2) yes he would've been better on a team with a real system.
Not woodson ISO and switching D ball
BigDaddyG@ 10/27/2014 2:58 PM
Maybe. If I had to guess, I'd have to say no. Shump's draft scouting report reads the same as his current NBA scouting report. The team's system has nothing to do with his jump shot or ball handling. Those are things he has control over.
Splat@ 10/27/2014 3:28 PM
Shump belonged on SA. He'd be something like the 8th man on that club by now due to proper development of his passing game and shooting skills. He is a system player who needs good, consistent long-term coaching.

If you're asking would the Knicks have been better
smackeddog@ 10/27/2014 4:16 PM
Would have excelled as a Bull. He did well his first year here. When he returned from the ACL, Woody screwed up his development, which has set him back.

Last year his sh***y attitude greatly contributed to his demise- thats why I'm glad he has addressed that (so far)

yeah, i agree. i think everyone on this board would agree that shumpert has a ton of raw ability, but just because he has raw ability it doesn't mean he's ever going to figure things out. his shot is ugly as fuck and he needs a ton of work on it, if he ever wants to become a consistent shooter. he's a good defensive player, but he has a tendancy to gamble too much at times and doesn't necessarily show the best bball smarts. he also has had two acl surgeries. i would love to see shumpert work out here and turn into a good player but way too many people here give him a complete pass and blame everything on woodson and d'antoni.... shumpert should share equal blame.
