Knicks · 30 assists on 37 made field goals.... (page 1)

That is real ball movement right there. That is a different Knicks team. Gotta keep it going.
Vmart @ 10/30/2014 11:25 PM
Good team win. Loved the sequence where the ball was being whipped around and Acy hit the jumper.
EnySpree @ 10/30/2014 11:25 PM
When this tightens up the Knicks will be one of the 8 teams dancing at the end. The Knicks weren't even playing their best ball. 12 guys saw decent minutes. Can't wait to see Charlotte!

I think we weren't in the triangle a lot of the game, but that amount of assists is serious team concept. Melo 6 assists, JR 7 assists in the same game. And in the same game where they hit some daggers. This was not characteristic of the Woody regime. They weren't executing the triangle yet, but there was a change in style. There was a change in mentality for sure.

Many in the media and some around here scoffed at the idea of Fish teaching this team how to play with Ball n Player movement but the results don't lie. They may not always get it but more often than not they are sharing the ball. 30 assists don't happen by accident.

The Knicks were in the Triangle but they made more use of the Pinch post and other actions cuz we don't have to force the post feed. They use it to create spacing which is fine. They're running the Triangle without a lot of low post.

This is why I've said Fish is the biggest variable this season. If he can get that effort and relative cohesion the night after an embarrassing debut, it says this guy is solid, focused and will impart a winning mentality to the players.

I have not bought into any of the Knicks coaches since the 1990s, so if Fish makes me a believer in him then that goes a long way in my book. Coaching is not just a condiment on the main course, it is the difference between winning and losing in the NBA.

I thought it was a good idea. Simplified things a bit. It's still the organization that was the difference down the stretch. Cleveland wasn't organized at the end they were freelancing.

BTW 30 out of 37 works out to 81% of their shots were assisted. That compares to 54% last year according to Chris Herring. That's some difference.
mreinman @ 10/30/2014 11:49 PM
I LOVE MY DAMN ASSISTS!

Did woody ever have a 37 assist night?

Exactly!!! People just don't realize this team isn't the same as a pure Triangle team Phil has had with a Shaq or Gasol. We can't expect them to run everything just that way. That doesn't mean it's not the Triangle as many in the media like Reggie Miller kept saying. There's so many other options in the Triangle besides just that 1st option.

Really! everyone needs to watch this beauty! Watch each knick player separately.

Look what happens when guys are patient and they get to their spots!

Thats Red Holzman ball right there!!!!

Splat @ 10/31/2014 12:11 AM
Very interesting clip from the game.

It all starts with Cole immediately push passing it on the run into the paint over to Pablo. That is pretty unusual for most bigs and probably something I wouldn't expect from anyone else from our frontline except Wear.

Plus Acy had to shoot the ball immediately to make that work and he did.

Very good sequence.

Cole is thinking out there. It makes me want to see him more.

Cole and Wear and Acy. Those are our most dynamic frontline players.

Who would have predicted that?

The cavs have no bench, getting out scored 41-12 is no fluke

I was unimpressed with Blatt. He's got some talent on that bench- Tristan Thompson, Mike Miller, Shawn Marion. What the hell was Shawn Marion doing barely playing in this game? If you've got a player like Marion he has to get more than 10 mins of burn. He does a lot to help you win ballgames even though he's over the hill scoring wise.

gunsnewing @ 10/31/2014 12:22 AM
Yea I was shocked MArion barely saw the floor. maybe he was injured
VDesai @ 10/31/2014 12:22 AM
But seriously Cavs need a backup PG. Need a player who can let Kyrie go to off guard occasionally.

The problem is kyrie is an off guard. Kid has a ton of talent but is not a very good basketball player.

That's the downfall of the nba....relying on the stars to bail you out. I'm glad we're not going down that route anymore.
