Knicks · Klay or Kwai...... (page 2)

Teams set the market. They shouldn't sign these guys to this money if they aren't worth it. Klay is good but not max
VCoug @ 10/31/2014 5:35 PM
It doesn't matter because, as F500One just posted, Klay and GS have already agreed anyway and SA and GS would have matched any contract no matter what. Remember, the max that other teams can offer is lower than the max their teams can offer so the teams can save money by letting RFA hit free agency and then matching. And besides, GS refused to trade Klay for Love and Kawhi is the future in SA.

Actually Yellowboy posted it first

Which virtually locked him into his deal

Basically GSW bid against themselves

They had to max him by pulling him off the table

If Love isn't worth Klay, then you're saying Klay is worth Max

What they should have done is work

The trade rumors for all it was worth

Which would have shown a decent willingness

To let him go, and as you said they could have leveraged

Their ability to mach to drive down his market

Alec Burks just received 4yrs $42mil from Jazz

The Jazz doled out 4yrs $63mil to Hayward over the summer too

lol @ Shumpert not even getting a conversation

To the table, gotta give him credit here

He hasn't let it effect him one way or the other

I doubt he wants to discuss an extension now. His value is still very low after last season and I'm sure he's hoping to play well and earn a much larger contract.

Don't understand that Burks contract. Is he a lockdown defender or something? His offensive numbers are nice but not $10M+/year nice.

Wolves and Rubio are $6mil apart

They offered 4yrs $52mil Rubio wants 4yrs $58mil

I say this gets done before the evening concludes

Meanwhile Jerry R. being cheap again, he wanted Jimmy Butler

To take a hometown discount, and he declined

His agent Happy Walters kind of put them on front street

SA will likely do what Houston tried to do with Parsons. Sign FAs then go over the cap and sign Leonard. Unlike the Warriors, the Spurs are not already caped out and will have a bunch of room to fit whoever they want in.

What defines a max player?

Oh, I was approaching the question as if I were a GM and was putting a value on each player. If the question was "what do you think these guys WILL get on the market when they are available" I would say they will both get contracts that are max or damn near max.

Minny probably just saved some dumb teams from themselves by making that ridiculous deal. Rubio is overrated.

Holy crap, 4 years $56M?! That's an insane number for a guard that can't shoot even a little bit. I mean, he can barely hit layups.
