Knicks · Lin in the triangle. (page 1)

How do you think Lin would look in the triangle? He will probably get around 6 mil per yr in Free Agency this off season unless he comes on strong at some point in the season to boost that up. Other then more hype he has been equal to Daren Collison in terms of career production who just signed for 3 yrs 15mil.

I know people will say Dolan and Melo won't allow it. But they aren't in charge Phil is, and I don't even think Melo would care as much as people think he would. Don't think its his personality.

But besides all that would he be a good fit due to his skill set? And at a 6mil per yr rate would it be a good value move?

Lin is like a SG with additional PG skills, so in that sense he would be good in a triangle system since he would be free to shoot when it is clearly his shot, but he'd recognize good passing opportunities.

Since I have not watched him much since he left I can't say where he's at presently, but my fear is just not that durable and his career may by limited by injuries. Otherwise, I like him and think he has a good combination of aggression and intelligence.

It is just his luck to play with a ball dominant guy like Hardin and now its Kobe. Lin can be good if he is given the ball, but not in the offensive systems he has played in. The triangle would be best for a player like him.

When he had his epic run here, he was very effectively dishing to Novak for threes, Tyson for PnRs and hitting Jared Jeffries for lobs. He made quite a few back door passes and generally a very good distributor. That was with Melo out, so it was not the top talent level we ever had, but it was for a while the most cohesive. I think he wants to play a team game and may struggle until he is in the right situation, which is true for many players.

I don't think Melo had a problem with Lin other than his contract. Lin has good size and can attack the rim. At the right price (duh), I think he could do very well. Not "Linsanity" as an expectation.

He would do well in the triangle. Just like he did well in SSOL

Seems he excels in team oriented systems

I like Lin but even without him being Linsanity, he is a turnover machine, which is a quality that does not bode well on playoff teams. I'd have interest in him but I no longer think he offers much of anything beyond what we already have in Calderon, Larkin and Prigioni. I'd DEFINITELY pass on him if he's making $6 million per year, even with the expected rise of the salary cap. You can't justify him making more than a Mo Williams ($3 million/yr), Jameer Nelson ($2 million/yr) or Darren Collision ($5 million/yr).
