Knicks · Team is a fcking disaster (page 1)

Can we trade Melo for 3 first round picks and two young player and jut rebuild?

The team will be better with Calderon. Not great. I still think it's at most a .500 team. But not as bad as right now. That's if Calderon comes back and stays healthy. He is old.

haha that escalated quickly

We should be bowing down at the altar. So lucky to have a player like Melo. He deserves max money because he is a top dawg. The Big Kahuna

so glad Marc Gasol is coming to right the ship and bring us our first championship in 42yrs

Lottery picks are for losers

gunsnewing @ 11/7/2014 11:02 PM
its scary to think we are going to panic and abandon system basketball in favor of Meloball.

and there is nothing we can do for 5yrs!!!

$124mil no trade claus!

dk7th @ 11/7/2014 11:05 PM
haven't seen the game as i had a social event. sounds like i would not have enjoyed the game.

can anybody tell me: how many times did the knicks actually run the triangle tonight? did anyone keep track?

nixluva @ 11/7/2014 11:08 PM
There's no chance that we'll abandon the team oriented system without seeing how it works with more time and our starting PG. They have to remain patient and 6 games is not being patient. Don't know why anyone should think otherwise. Not having Jose for 30 minutes a night wasn't in the plans and yes it makes a difference. Just like having Kidd when he was healthy made a difference. We need a brain on the floor for significant minutes every night.

Melo iso'd right out of the gate. Never got a chance to run it

we did run some successful pick n rolls with Amare from shumpert and JR but that is not the triangle

Shots weren't falling which effected the defensive intensity

Yep yep. Part of being a sports fan is reacting with emotion. The Knicks have looked horrible since the start of the third quarter in Detroit. That being said, the knicks are short handed and trying to install a new system. It will take time.

Maybe 50% of the time

We did run some heavy Pick N Roll D'Antoni style

Does that count

Melo derailed the team orchestration from the opening bell. It was like he took his prior two games and tried to play worse wire to wire this game. Plus him and Stat were on the floor a good bit early on and they were terrible. Stat turned over the ball repeatedly and was really lost. It was ISO porn, but not sexy. More like grandmas banging the mailman.

Nalod @ 11/7/2014 11:35 PM
What part does "rebuilding year" does some of you not get?
Building a culture does not include "Panic".
2-1 and Phil says he surprised. Get it now?
nixluva @ 11/7/2014 11:36 PM
Only a few of our players seem to actually understand what the Triangle is about. We need for a majority of the players to understand and execute well at the same time. It goes in fits and starts. Melo is struggling and IMO he's not being active enough off the ball. I've spent most of the time just tracking him and he's not moving with gusto to get open using the system. Of course the D is paying more attention to him but he has to keep moving and forcing the D to keep moving.

Of course the issue of our guards making better decisions is also important. The kids ran the system better when Melo sat cuz they're moving with a purpose and with energy. Melo has to adjust his game to more like he did during the Olympics. It's a mental thing. It's not like he can't do it. He saw tons of catch and shoot on the Olympic team and this is very much the same kind of role but he's not looking to score in that way.

Panic?

We're not winning anything this year so there's zero to panic about.

What's at stake is the "building a culture" you speak of. It doesn't happen when your star is going full speed down Idiot Street, basically flipping off his teammates and the coach.

Being in a funk is one thing. Being a truly bad player incapable of putting aside your ego is another. Melo's ego is on full, chucking ISO-licious display.

That's the problem.

Panic happens when you wait indefinitely and don't nip a problem in the bud. Melo is behaving like a problem child. Excuse some of us for wanting to address it.

yep he's putting as much effort into running the triangle as he did Dantoni's SSOL

except I don't see a way out this time. Not going to fire the coach for another iso lover

gunsnewing @ 11/7/2014 11:44 PM
Melo is so used to iso and so full of himself that he has no patience to play within a system and let the game come to him. He has to get his. SSOL/Triangle be damned

its not malicious its just Melo being Melo. Simpleton just like the fans that fill the Garden and chant MVP

nixluva @ 11/7/2014 11:47 PM
ISO is part of the nature of the Triangle. Thing is Jordan saw Tons of ISO but Melo has to adjust to the rhythm of this style and not FORCE it. He's forcing things and it's impacting everyone else too. Having Jose could help him cuz Jose actually understands the system. Jose is the best thinker and passer on the team and the most efficient shooter plus low turnover player too. He's no different than Kidd was for this team.
