But I disagree with your assessment that Melo needs to change his game. You don't pay someone 100+ million to change his game. You build around him.
Would I have given Melo 100 mil to build around? No...But the knicks and Phil Jackson did.
There's no point in putting too much energy into changing a 13 yr vet. All you can hope for is that he can adapt to a new system and we can find players to surround him.
If he improves great....if he doesn't, oh well.....That's not his main objective when he signed his contract extension. His job is to lead, the way melo knows how to lead.
And for Phil / Fisher to build around him.....period!
Otherwise, they would've never paid him 100 mil just to change. If that's the case, we would've used that money on someone cheaper, and younger with room to change.

Is this a serious question? Have you not seen how I have been berated by SOME for criticizing Melo's low energy at both ends if the court? To be honest, he played a little better last night and I hope the all around output continues. However, the same can't be said for the previous 6 games.

No one is asking carMelo to change his game; however, I and others would love to see him be much smarter When he is on the court. When the shots are not falling, we are simply asking that he drives to the basket to get to the foul lines instead of continuing to bail out the opposing team. If you take 10 shots and miss 9 out of 10, you are to know that a different approach is necessary. We kill Hardaway and Smith for taking too many shots, specially when they are striking out, why not get on CarMelo as well? If he is making 50 to 60% of his shots, by all means, please continue to shoot.
Another thing I criticize Carmelo for is his inability to get on guys when they are not doing what they are supposed to do. As a leader, it is his jobs to police the other guys. Part of what he needs to hit that next level is the ability to demand accountability from himself and others.
