Knicks · Someone Has To Say It First, I'll Do It....Fire Fisher (page 1)

FireWoodson @ 11/15/2014 9:59 AM
There is no doubt that Derek Fisher is going to be a great and successful head coach in the NBA. He really does have the makings of a future Hall Of Fame coach. Multiple championships will no doubt be his. But it is time to fire Fisher.

Not only Phil but Rambis and Cleamons are there to talk to him about coaching and if they didn't agree with what he's doing it wouldn't be happening. People need to relax and let this process take it's course. The staff and Phil are all in sync on how this team is being developed. Jesus!!! SMDH

At first I thought that was a strong point. Wow, this guy Fish is not going to be one of those by the book coaches. Melo sits start at fourth quarter...starters play close of fourth quarter...righty pitcher must face righty hitter...go for extra point to tie game late in fourth quarter not go for two to win it... I can't stand the Joe Girardi types who literally open a book during a game to tell them what to do. Fish's rotation decisions were more inclined with feel. A huge plus in my book.

But after two weeks it isn't making much sense. Sure, Wear is a fine player...but 15 minutes and much of that in the final minutes of a nailbiting back and forth tight game? Hardaway's minutes (or lack of) make no sense. Acy in big one game...benched the next? Same with Cole.

Fisher's approach is admirable, but I don't think it is even making any sense with his players. That's not good for any coach, let alone a new one.

Coach by Feel is never a good thing

You should coach based on principles

Past and Present results on suc decisions made

If a coach coaches by feel he'll have different guys playing

Each other on different nights based on what he's currently seeing

You can't do that, Hence DPNing Hardaway for a first half

Then starting him during the second half, who does that

mreinman @ 11/15/2014 6:51 PM
nothing too impressive so far.

we are in tank mode while playing the crappy vets instead of our kids.

No, not at all. Just an attention whore and some take the bait.

Knicks lacked leadership. Isiah had Dolans confidence and screwed it up. Dolan can trust phil. This turn around CAN'T take one off season to turn around given the circumstances of the franchise. To think otherwise would be short sided and emotionally based.

I don't have the answers other than confidence the guys phil hired all have a lot of rings as players and assistant coach's. They know success. Isiah had it as a player.

Any fool with a brain knows you don't make knee jerk trades as fans react that "change" is better than "Patience" and only the most short sighted attention seeker would call for a rookie coach's head in his first 10 games.

Children if they can't get positive attention will do what they need to do to get attention even if its negative.
"Firewoodson", your getting the latter. IF your going to present this concept, then why not explain it?

Undrafted free agent, second round pick and a vet that had to go to the summer leagues to make the team. Aldrich is the third string center. Wear and Early are fighting it out to not be the kid sent to Westchester next week. Calling out a coach for not playing the end of the bench guys seems to be a tradition here but it seems to be getting more extreme.

2-8 says maybe the tradition should be heeded

But the tradition of excuses ring stronger

Talking about firing a coach because the guys mentioned aren't getting consistent rotation minutes 10 games in seems pretty extreme.

I never said Fisher should be fired

He should be put on notice of not tightening up on

Who he's playing and play the right guys with each other

He's not infallible and above criticism

Just because he's a first yr coach and a Phil hire

are you saying he has no strategy and that the time for assessment is over? decide on 8 guys and stick with that?

because if you are, here are the guys i give minutes to:

melo
dalembert
shumpert
acy
wear
stoudemire
calderon
aldrich
jason smith
larkin-- until calderon come back

not saying i agree with that approach but if that is what you are asserting then these would be the guys...

no early
no hardaway
no jr smith
no bargnani
