We have a $3.4 million trade exception from the Dallas trade and a $1.4 million trade exception from the Travis Outlaw-to-the-76ers trade.
We need to do something with them, as opposed to losing them this offseason for nothing. The era of losing assets for nothing is over!
I'd even be willing to take back long-term salary, if it yielded a young player with potential or draft picks. Are there any deals to be made that fit this criteria?
Would Dallas give us a protected first to reacquire Felton? I'd trade future 2nd rounders and cash to make it work, then waive Felton immediately.

You need to get out more.

I'm glad you added the second part about waiving Felton, lol. Was about to type a bunch of question marks.

...except for the part where they are. A trade exception landed the Warriors Andre Igoudala, who was one of the best free agents available in 2013.

Oh God, I wouldn't want that trainwreck back in a Knick uniform. He's Eddy Curry squashed into a 6"2' frame. Not sure what the hell happened to him but he definitely wore out his welcome here with that shitty, self-entitled attitude of his. And he's still not healthy!
The only reason I'd do it is the fact that we likely won't be able to do anything better with $4 million than a first rounder. Maybe we could figure out a way to parlay Felton with something to get him off the team. I don't care for Eric Gordon but I like him better than JR Smith or Raymond Felton. A deal where we move both those shitty contracts, Shumpert and Dalembert for Gordon and a pick from Pelicans (in addition to Dallas' pick) would be appealing to me.

Where in the draft would the Pelican's pick be?

The Pelicans are 7-8, which makes them 11th in the West and slated for the 12th pick in the draft. They did get off to a strong enough start but have lost the last 3 games, due to Gordon and Asik's absence (injury). Should they make the deal and teams like the Kings fall off, I think they'll be in the thick of the playoff hunt. Realistically, I see the pick anywhere between 12th to 15th. Shumpert and Dalembert are definitely not worth that BUT I think Demps is really on the hot seat, which is why he gave up a first rounder for Asik, who was going to be a free agent in a year's time. Considering how bad a contract Eric Gordon is as well, I think it has a shot of happening if pursued.

Actually the Sign and trade with Denver did.

They had to dump Andries Biedrins and Richard Jefferson to even have a shot at acquiring Andre Igoudala. The Jazz trade had been agreed to first. The sign and trade for Igoudala was negotiated thereafter.
JR and the trade exception to the Hornets for Stephenson and byambo

It was a three team deal....all of it was simultaneous.
