Knicks · Did you watch the TV special Carmelo's production company made...about Carmelo? (page 1)

Hector @ 12/3/2014 8:07 AM
This team will never win with him. He has too many other things he wants to be other than a basketball player.

I hope I'm wrong but this seems to be the reality.

The commercials for the show were just so bad, I just don't care about him other than game time & I can't believe anyone could have watched that & came away feeling good about this team & their best player.

But then again, a commercial just came on TV & Steiner Sports is selling stadium dirt for $124.99 I wonder if it was 'game used'?

Probably not or it would be selling for as much as Jeter's game socks sold for in September.

StarksEwing1 @ 12/3/2014 8:12 AM
Didnt watch it. I dont agree that he isnt concenrating on basketball enough, I think he is competitive and wants to win. However, the issue with melo is that he isnt the type of player wo can carry a team, vey few guys are. I accept him for what he is, a great scorer but in order to win you need to be more than just a scorer
gunsnewing @ 12/3/2014 8:28 AM
it had to be weird for MSG to be forced by Melo Inc to air something about him waxing poetic about the Chicago Bulls. Especially at 4-15

but hey I've seen it all. These things are the reasons I will never like Carmelo win or lose

wow... someone with a brain. Be careful, your dangerously close to be labeled a Melo-apologist, excuse maker or jock rider.

Exactly. He culd have summarized the whole special in one sentence. "I didnt pick Chicago because they could only offer me like half of what New York could"
Hector @ 12/3/2014 8:32 AM
MSG inc doesn't care about The Knicks & Rangers winning titles, they care about Taylor Swift selling out The Paramount, or Radio City - or the freakin' Circus at The Beacon that took the dates The Allman Brothers have had for years!

I envy San Antonio, New York has become so wimped out & fake.

Melo is very delusional/tone deaf.

Either that or he is just getting back at all the media and fans who criticize him by rubbing this in their face

I'm just saying MSG - the corporation - had no problem showing that special because they don't care - as long as they make money from it & get their name out there.

They are not really interested in the sports aspect as much as the concert & entertainment portion of their business.

No I think Melo's people wanted it out there because in their eyes it will build Melo Inc's brand and the MSG/The Knicks have no say

I gotta give you credit Fish for deflecting attention from the topic at hand

Hindsight is always 20/20 but I really have no problem saying it now because I felt it & said it then -- we should've worked out a S&T with Chicago. We could've gotten back Boozer for a year, a few young pieces (even this kid Cameron Bairstow looks like a player--like a young right-handed David Lee with more bulk) and a pick or two. We could've then added some nice cheap talent for the year (guys like Robert Covington, E'Twaun Moore, etc.)...We would've been better off starting over. It's just gonna be so difficult to form the type of team we need around Melo to compete for it all. He makes too much money, takes up too much cap room for 1 player and then there's the injury concerns--both shoulders, the back now...I look at Melo as a player who's window is slowly closing everyday. By the time we assemble a halfway decent cast around him, what type of player will he be at $26-27+mm? And we had some other choices -- the Lakers, Houston...I would've taken a package from Houston, even something w/o Harden. How bad did Phil shop him to these teams? They all wanted him. The interest was there. Funny--I got the impression Phil didn't even like Melo. Then he goes out and compounds the problem by adding Jose Calderon's salary to the brew (I said it at the time that we couldn't make that trade with Calderon -- I wanted Brandan Wright instead. It's a mess right now. Phil made his bed--now we all have to lie in it.

Chicago did well for themselves not getting Melo and signing Gasol

there is no topic at hand. Its like blaming Eli for being in commercials right now for not being focused on football and blaming him for the Giants losses. If it makes you feel better to have a focal point, misguided as it may be than have at it.

Melo played too many minutes, especially coming off back spasms, but was still pretty effective. Shooting sucked but 9rebs and 6assists is solid especially when you have guards like the best 2 way player since Ewing and the THjr the future star going 5-18

Hate on Melo all you want. I have no relationship with him. Also you will remember few around here dogged him more than I did. What changed my tune? He's simply not the problem with this team or organization. I think Phil gets that also, probably the reason he's one of the only 2-3 guys left here next year.

Gasol costs them $7mil per for 3yrs
Melo would've cost them just under $20mil per for 4 yrs

gunsnewing @ 12/3/2014 9:40 AM
Melo did the right thing for himself. $25mil per for 5yrs with a no trade claus so he doesn't get shipped to Siberia. He gets the $25mil in his 5th year whether he performs or is a shell of himself or injured. Good for him
