Knicks · Any optimists left?? (page 1)

Gotta admit, I miss you guys, you know who you are....the one's who truly believe the Knicks can and will turn things around. Kinda hard to have a discussion now when everyone agrees the team is trash.

I dont recall the optimists going awol from the board this early last year though.....where' y'all at? 75% of the games are still left to be played. Dont give up this soon.

And people criticize the "haters" for allegedly being absent during wins!
Nalod @ 12/7/2014 8:33 AM
IM optimistic and really did not think it would be this bad. I do expect them to start "getting it"over the next 20 games.

Since Im a proponent of rebuilding, I prefer a high draft position. Thats Love, not hate.

newyorknewyork @ 12/7/2014 8:51 AM
I'm an optimist, never really had expectations for this season though. Never really knew what to expect. Same as last yr and the Bargs trade. Didn't really set any expectations and allow the team itself to set them for me as it played out. Being a Knicks fan you are always mentality prepared for things to go south.
jrodmc @ 12/7/2014 8:57 AM
I never left. The 60 game win streak starts tonight!
It's funny how pissy the Sombers get though when you criticize the coolness of hate.

Ah well.

franco12 @ 12/7/2014 9:05 AM
The team has shown flashes- we've made stellar come backs, lost close cames.

Can they play that way from the start of games?

I think the thing that has shocked me the most, though, is how this group last year and this year - with many key components from the 54 win team- can stink so bad!

If Melo, Amare & Jr all were given the green light at 30+mins. They would probably win more. We wouldn't be a contender but there ability to be streaky would win us and lose us games probably leveling off in the high 30s to low 40s in terms of wins.

Yeah, I'll give you lots of credit for sticking around.

The sarcastic smiley. Use it.

Melo would be playing broken down more than he already is, Amare would be in rehab until the All Star break, and JR would be tying ref's shoes together when he wasn't busy giving Phil the finger off camera.

The flashes I hate more than anything is the stuff from crack baby Larkin, the Other Smith and Travis. But they are what they are, I guess. At least we're not left wondering what we're missing right now with Cleanthony.

I think not having a first round pick last year made fans want to believe the Knicks can turn it around, many we're hoping the Knicks wouldn't be the worst in a year without a pick. Didn't really have the draft so there was no interest in losing. This year it's all about the lotto for me.

There is no way around it, it makes absolutely no sense in winning when you know the team won't win a championship. Backing into the playoffs is about the worst thing any team can do.

IronWillGiroud @ 12/7/2014 11:35 AM
i'm always an optimist,

i never stop believing in my team

do you remember linsanity?

1999 called to say hello. To the aged among us, that wasn't all that long ago.

I believe all but the most embittered knicks fans are resigned to the fact that we won our one and only lottery. Dolan isn't spending billions renovating a building and paying 85 million for names to replicate Philly.

That, and the fact that our first round draft history since then has been pretty bleak.

smackeddog @ 12/7/2014 11:43 AM
Even Newsday has been laying into Phil- not sure if it's on Dolan's orders, or whether Phil simply lifted the gagging order on them this season. Probably the latter.

Yeah, no matter what's happening, or what the facts are saying, part of me always thinks "maybe next game we turn things around" Not sure if thats a good or bad thing!

The talent called to say hello. Oh and 1985 is on line two. Know your talent level. The 1999 team was loaded.

Moonangie @ 12/7/2014 12:00 PM
I am optimistic that we will improve substantially NEXT YEAR, after we tank this season to get a top-3 pick, cut loose all the dead weight (i.e., everyone except Melo and a few yoots) and restock the cupboard.

Next year lookin better than ever!

smackeddog @ 12/7/2014 12:23 PM
I'm getting tired of reading crap like this:

Phil went into the offseason with one year of the MLE to spend, no picks and only one player with any trade value- what the hell did they think he was going to do to rebuild the team with that bag of crap in 6 months?!

Nalod @ 12/7/2014 12:24 PM
This is usually where we start hating on the coach for "Not adapting to his players"......

Not this time. The system will be ingrained no matter what. That makes me optimistic.

Amare is doing well so why increase his minutes. what ever team is doing with him is a good thing. Maybe we need to give the staff some credit!

The media can't sit by and not say something. ANGER sells so let them be critical or say how disappointed we should all be. To me short term fixes is never a good thing. Phil knows the gig and knows if they lose what the media will do. I don't care what he says, I just care what he does. OR doesn't do.

The longer we don't try to patch the roster, the more optimistic I ams.
