We need to get rid of JR Smith and Calderon. Lets see some magic Phil

Who would you target, BRIGGs?

I would like to see at least one of these guys moved. They would be able to fill in gaps the pick and players in FA. A lot of really good players out there who should be affordable. I would go after Asik or Lopez at Center, Jackson or Knight at PG, and Wesley Matthews at the 2. I would like to round out the roster rather than putting all my eggs in a max salary player as we have done in the past. Unless they sign right away, we are just losing an opportunity to sign other guys. Obviously would be awesome to get one of the top guys on that list, but can't wait around if they really have no interest.

I think we need to see the draft first.

yellowboy90 @ 12/8/2014 1:35 PM
R. Jackson

Wes Matthews

Danny Green

Marco Belinelli

Jimmy Butler

Tobias Harris

Paul Millsap

Gerald Green

Ed. Davis

Brandan Wright

Brandon Bass

Omer Asik

Enes Kanter

NYKBocker @ 12/8/2014 1:39 PM
Aldridge would be the perfect triangle big
franco12 @ 12/8/2014 1:41 PM
We have so many holes - I'd like to think we can fill them with key signings.

I see starting PG, SG & C as our biggest deficits. If I could get one big name, and then a pair of solid players - I would be ecstatic, especially if we add an uber talent in the draft.

Goran Dragic
Omer Asik
Patrick Beverley
Brandon Knight
Wesley Mathews
Mozgov
Danny Green
Brandan Wright
Jeremy Lin
Louis Williams

We just got Calderon, he was the main piece we received back in the Tyson trade. I doubt we're going to be looking to trade him.

NYKBocker wrote:Aldridge would be the perfect triangle big

He might be- but I don't think we can pay him, and I don't think we should throw big money after anyone who has as many years & miles on their body.

I don't doubt Aldridge can perform another 5 years- its just we got burnt with Stat & Melo is already on the wrong side of 30.

I don't think we should sign any player over thirty to more than a vet min type deal.

Sorry we still need a point guard

Go big in the draft and defenders in free agency

If you had the opportunity to trade him for anyone who had an ending contract--would you? I would and id give them 3mm in cash to do it.

Calderon will be one of the first to go come Dec 15th

And fans will be slurping on the receivables

Get rid of his $7-8mil contract already we could use the additional cap space

Are you making the trade just to dump him, or to get someone on the FA list who might not resign with their club?

I have a hard time seeing us dump talent for the sake of a few dollars more.

Briggs - and $3MM cash no longer has the same import these days of $2B valuations!

I wouldn't have traded for him to begin with. If we end up trading Calderon for nothing but cap space that means we'll have basically traded Tyson for two 2nd round picks. That's fucking terrible.

Hoping that JR Smith would excercise his option to be a FA but probably not.

Acy and Wear team option should be excercised for keep on team.

So for shits and giggles let say the Cap next year is around $65M. We have around $25M to play around with in FA.

If nothing changes then this is who we expect to return...

C-
PF-
SF-Melo,Early, Wear
SG-JR, THJr
PG-Calderon, Pablo

1st question. Do we match Shumps qualifying offer? I like Shump. I say we do.

This means we have $21M left.

We need PG, C and PF. In that list..i would go after the following...

C - Robin Lopez. He is a good defender and rebounder. His mid range shot is adequate and he fits the mold of a triangle center in that he can pass and takes up space. He is going to cost around $5M.

That has us at $15M in cap space.

PF - Paul Milsap. Another good defender and can rebound. Also a good mid range shot and a good passer. He would cost around $9M.

That has us at $6M.

PG - Not a lot of players left at that price range. Dragic would be nice but he won't come at $6M. Rondo is out of range plus I don't think he is a triangle PG anyways. Reggie Jackson would be perfect but he is an RFA which is hard to get. Brandon Knight is perfect I think hopefully he has not priced himself out of $6M per....but if he keeps it up we might not be able to afford him. Beverley is an RFA. Nate...hahahah... Jeremy Lin..I like him a lot. I think he would be great in the triangle plus he would cost us around $6M if not lower. Barrea...no thank you. Fatton...I just threw up a little in my mouth.
So....I would be happy with Knight or Lin at $6M but most likely it would be Lin.

So my roster would be this before the draft.

C-Robin Lopez
PF-Milsap
SF-Melo,Early, Wear
SG-JR, THJr
PG-Lin, Calderon, Pablo

Then get best available player in the draft.

Cool Cool Cool

F500ONE @ 12/8/2014 2:34 PM
Sorry Lopez is getting more than $5mil

See Channing Frye and Jordan Hill for starters

Matching Shump's QO is not how it works

We may extend his QO but if we do it comes at a cap hit of $6.5mil

Until he receives an offer from another team

Which puts us in line to match whatever that contract is

For those who want to keep this Chump

Best bet is for him not to hit the market and accept his $3.5mil QO

Cut bait on this fool is what I say and gain the cap space

Best case if to receive an asset in the form of a pick for 2016 in a S&T[if we're even eligible to execute one]

Bonn1997 @ 12/8/2014 2:44 PM
The salary cap will probably be around $65 mil. And we have $41 mil tied up in players leading us to a .190 record right now. (45 mil if you count Shumpert's QO)
earthmansurfer @ 12/8/2014 2:45 PM
Because we are running the triangle, I have to say I like Lin. I loved Lin last year and I know he has fallen off but to just bring the ball up, defend and have his IQ out there would probably do a lot for the team. Of course he would have to re-learn how to hit the open shot. But he loved NY and I think he is one of those players that plays much better under the bright lights here.

The problem with the triangle imo is that having a great PG probably doesn't help as much as one would think, since a great pg is not needed - seems like a waste of talent at a position (money wise).
So, I would rather have (talent wise) Jackson, Knight, etc. but I think this system would destroy much of their game and then a lot of their trade value. And we already experienced that with Tyson (for a variety of reasons.)
