Guys who come to mind immediately ---- Jabbar, Gervin, Durant and Pete Maravich. Pete was so good he could have gone for 40 a night but he had to keep teammates happy.
Kareem needed someone to get him the ball but he scored so easily --- many people remember old Kareem but forget the young, graceful player he was early in his career.

Yep - Gervin made it looked so easy (very Durant like) but even easier --- agree on Kareem -- he wasn't chucking up 25-28 shots a night like some of these tools (Melo).
Actually Bob McAdoo made scoring look very easy - inside, outside, over you, around you - catch and shoot, catch and drive, 2 dribbles and pull up --- very awesome scorer.

To me, a pure scorer is a guy you can never lay off of on D. There are some guys who are talented scorers, but they are ineffective in certain spots of the floor or they can be baited into taking bad shots. Larry Bird had to be guarded as soon as he crossed half court. Jordan wasn't the most effective three point shooter, but he rarely bailed the defense out by shooting the long ball. You knew Jordan was taking it to the hoop or posting you up for the fadeaway on most possessions.

When I think of scorer, I think of how many different ways can a player offensively convert
And of course do it at an Elite level, although Nash had incredible craft around the basket
He was predominantly a set shooter and pull up shooter
Nash didn't dunk, didn't have incredible amounts of athleticism to assist in his scoring ability
With the high level of skill he had
He also lacked the power to finish at and/or above opponents at the rim
Durant IMO is the most complete scoring package and I'm trying to find an offensively hole in his game
I guess his lack of post game could be considered an offensive negative
There's plenty of details though that go into what defines a SCORER

He was unstoppable and as silky smooth of a shot that I have ever seen. He is obviously not the choice that people would thing of being that he was such a great facilitator.
Durant is def up there but yes, he does need a post game, especially in the playoffs.

I think Nash is being left off the list for the same reason Amare's name hasn't been mentioned. Nash is a HOFer, but I think the perception most people have is that
