Knicks · Brook and Deron (page 1)

Knicks could trade them Amare and Bargnani.

they want to clear salary.....if they were really bout that life, this is the only trade they need to look for.

Knicks kill their cap, but dude Gasol is not leaving Memphis. Monroe is not the answer. Who else are we looking for?

Knicks could start:

ACY
Melo
Brook
Deron
THJR

Dalembert, Calderón, Jason smith, Jr, Shump, larkin, cole....

it gives the Knicks legit options...we'd have legit options in the triangle...a post player and a super ball handler/passer to add to the scorer we have in Melo. Thjr does his thing and Acy does his. It's just as good as waiting on free agents to save us

Hector @ 12/19/2014 8:01 PM
lol, you are out of your mind.

Maybe....

as soon as I post this Deron had to leave the game with a calve injury. So there you go

But seriously....who are we hoping to get next year? Monroe isn't flat out better than Brook. And who can we get better than deron? Just saying as stupid as it may sound, it'sjust as stupid to think the Knicks are getting all these top free agents.....oh yeah we're getting jahlil Okafor too in the draft

JrZyHuStLa @ 12/19/2014 9:07 PM
But seriously. No.
CrushAlot @ 12/19/2014 9:09 PM
Deron left tonight's game with a calf injury. I say stay away from these guys. They are the Nets problems. KNicks should have drafted Bropez and a point with the Hill pick the following year. They were chasing 7 seconds or less dreams instead of cornerstone players.

But Danilo is still the best shooter I've ever seen.

I think he played pretty well last night in his return to the court. Surprised he hasn't become the one that got away again yet.

Yea he's great. He'll break out within the decade.

If Phil think he can get this team to championship level without a stud PG in the back court, he is delusional. The game has changed drastically since he last coached the triangle. We need a PG that put guys in the right places on the floor and a dude that can also make shots. I don't know if DWill can stay healthy, but I believe he has a lot of games left in the tank.

I don't think DWill can stay healthy. He got hurt tonight. He makes a ton of money and he is on the books for three more years. He also has a rep as a malcontent.
TPercy @ 12/19/2014 9:45 PM
D will....THREE YEARS being paid at 20 mill and is an inconsitant(health and on court)fatass who I will not want to see in a Knicks Jersey. If Phill does this trade he ought to be fired
EnySpree @ 12/20/2014 5:55 AM
Deron and Brook both have injury problems..... so does Gasol.

I'm not saying the Knicks should definitely get these guys, I'm saying who are we going to get? We need some high charecter 2 way players. We have contracts to trade now or money to spend later.

What's the pitch? Come lose with us for a year or two while we continue to beg good players to come play for us.

EnySpree @ 12/20/2014 5:58 AM
Is maxing out Reggie Jackson and Monroe better than trading for Brook and Deron? Can we win with these two and Melo & THJR?
Nalod @ 12/20/2014 8:00 AM
Is melo better than Joe Johnson?
Are nets role players better than the knicks?

Cuz if its close, all we doing is replicating the Nets.

You don't have to spend all the money, you can keep the space and be patient until an opportunity arises.

EnySpree, you are even worse than me as far as GM skills go!

Reading various threads, it seems you want us to field a team of Brook, David Lee and Deron Williams

I'm just trying to comb the league for a way to get back some real talent.

Getting Deron Williams would significantly upgrade the backcourt. Nets get cap relief they want and Deron will be in the triangle which would probably add years to his playing career. Calderon would be fantastic as a reserve for us.

Brook would also be nice to have at center instead of Amare and Dalembert with this triangle.

Going after David Lee would bring intelligence to the inside game. I think he would fit well with Melo at the 3.

only problem is the Knicks can't get all these guys at the same time at least right now. You can't tell me getting these guys wouldn't significantly help the cause. It's not sexy or highly written or talked about but combing the league, you gotta say it makes sense

EnySpree @ 12/21/2014 8:22 AM
On a second look..... Phil could seriously get deron, brook and Lee right now.....

Deron and Brook for AMARE, Shump, Larkin and Jason smith. Nets get their cap relief, larkin a young pg prospect and the inside track on keeping Shump

David Lee for Bargnani and Dalembert.... the best team in the nba gets insurance for Bogut in Dalembert, plus they get whatever Bargnani can give off their bench if he ever comes back. 2 huge expiring deals.

The Knicks will look like:

Lee/Acy
Melo/Early
Brook/Cole
Deron/Calderón
THJR/JR Smith

Now that's talent

EnySpree @ 12/21/2014 8:30 AM
The Knicks could sign reggie Jackson, Monroe and hope to get a top center prospect. Its possible but not guaranteed. Even so.... it's not necessarily better than making trades to get better

I know you're trying to find upgrades, but you're forgetting rule 1 of Knick player acquisitions:

"Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong"

If we acquire a player with a history of injuries (as Deron and Lopez do), they will go down with said injuries. Happens every time. Then we'd be stuck with their salaries for years to come (as is the mistake we usually make). Further more, Deron's attitude is toxic, and we know from Marbury etc, NY brings out the worst in players. Lopez doesn't rebound or play defense, and is selfish. We've seen how that ends too. Nets actually play better without him.

If we landed Lee, it means no significant signing this offseason- is it worth it? We know from his stint here, Lee posts empty stats- see how the warriors thrive without him? Lee plays zero defense. He's about to decline. I can understand trading for him in the offseason AFTER we've spent all our money, but whats the point in getting him now and destroying our cap space?
