Lillard has more of a track record, 3 years and just not 24 games, so he is legit..But he isn't a max player..A max player u build your team around..I don't think u build a team around Lillard, just not yet..But he is a very important piece for Portland...But then again, the way guys are being paid now with Bosh getting 119 and Heywood 16mil per, who knows..

Even if it makes zippo sense and has a proven track record of not working

Kyle Lowry didn't get max money...

Lowry is 28. I think it is a different proposition going for a younger player in that talent range. Lillard is 24 and IMO very much a max player. You'd be getting him at his best years.

I think it has more to do with where the team is and what their needs are...Chicago won't max Butler unless they have to match a silly offer from elsewhere...Chicago is notoriously cheap..They were paying Toni Kukoc more than Jordan and Pippen..That's when Jordan later held them for ransom at 30 mil per..

Nalod @ 12/21/2014 1:11 AM
Butler takes less then he is a "team" player?

F500, you hung up on other peoples money!

Rose comes back he loses some touches. Jimmy shot down 11mil. Might be in for Gordon Haywood type money.

Notion a guy takes less means love? Silly.

Bonn1997 @ 12/21/2014 7:28 AM
It's a gamble but I'd offer him the max. Don't forget, it's more of a mini-max. It's barely half of what Melo's contract is.

Max a guy who has never been an all star??

i saw him play live. he is a monster two-way player. you don't win with maxed out one-way players-- as you well know.

That kid is certainly worth the money. He puts in the time in the gym and his production this year is a result of that.

And u know this after 24 games?

He shows improvement since he entered the league. Check out his average from year: 1,2,and now

He said that his 1st year was hampered by not having a training camp etc (lock out year), and last year he said he was hampered by his foot injury that led to him gaining weight, which further slowed him down.

He has the worst agent in the league!

Knicks1969 @ 12/21/2014 11:57 AM
Young two-way players are hard to find these days. If Chicago does not offer him the money, some other team will. I hope and pray for the love of God it is the Knicks. We payed a lot of one trick poneys a lot of money for just one year of play. Houston, Amare, etc....

Yeah Butler's Max is not a Kobe Max, Melo Max, Bosh Max etc etc

It's the Max which he's entitled to probably somewhere around 25% of cap

next cba they have to lower the max contract amount or the nba will continue to circle the drain as a professional sport.

yeah sure... great. what does this have to do with the quality of the league? the talent dilution is unmistakable. you must really hate basketball.
