Knicks · GREG MONROE (page 1)

Knicks1969 @ 12/21/2014 6:37 PM
I am watching the Detroit Brooklyn game, Monroe doesn't appear to have the lateral movement needed to be an effective defensive big man. Helis arms appear short for a big, which might explain why he is such a bad shot blocker. I might be wrong; so what do you guys think?
Knicks1969 @ 12/21/2014 6:38 PM
He appears to have a good low post game on offense
Splat @ 12/21/2014 6:42 PM
You have a great shot blocker in Westchester already.

That doesn't mean ThaNasty is going to compensate and thus justify Monroe. Greg sounds like yet another contract bust waiting to happen. He'd get a big deal and then play at half-mast and sit out loads of games. Just what the Knicks love.

Why don't we bring the nasty back to replace one of our soft bigs?

Knicks1969 @ 12/21/2014 6:51 PM
He has a nice 14-17' jumper. He is definitely not a rim protector. He is by far a better passer then all of our bigs. That would be a good addition next to a rim protector.

I'm hoping the club is smart enough to keep him in D-League all season and bring him up in training camp. No point in ruining your one gem with this rotten atmosphere full of bad players who will rub off on him. He's having a good run in Westchester and he has some competent and somewhat talented running mates there, so I'd rather him enjoy that and grow up this year there.

He's going to be a phenom for this club. I know talent when I see it and I know he will compute at the top level. I've been right about all of the key evaluations of this club so far and I'll be right about him.

If he develops a jumper with range, he will be an All-Star. He is already becoming a very smooth finisher and his handle is wayyyyyyy better than I thought it was, so he can penetrate and elevate and will be hard to stop. Basically, he is an elite athletic talent, the best we've had in a long time, but without the mental issues. He is all-in. He looks like a championship roster quality player to me.

I said he'd be the best player on the Knicks next year unless we draft a better player, but he will eclipse anyone currently playing at MSG. His upside is big.

Let's hope and pray. We also need to draft a couple of sharp shooters from Yugoslavia. Anyone with a name that ends with vic:))))

Either you haven't been watching him play or you are incapable of evaluating talent. That you say Acy is comparable tells me all I need to know.

H1AND1 @ 12/21/2014 7:18 PM

I will admit that all I have seen of the kid is the minutes he played in Vegas.

That is why I phrased it as an Either/Or Statement in case you had not watched him.

Since you have not, you are very uninformed then.

The NBA runs all of the games on YouTube and they provide highlight reels of him in particular. Very easy to check it out.

The player you saw in Vegas is not recognizable. His game is evolving very fast. He's a significant talent with a real work ethic. And he's a two-way player.

He is the kind of player you build with to create a new culture.

Acy?? you talkin bout Acy?

mreinman @ 12/21/2014 8:38 PM
Hell no to mun ro
Splat @ 12/21/2014 8:43 PM
Don't mind Acy being on this team as a bench player. He's OK, certainly not a detriment and he's cheap. He can be part of a positive culture basically while being a good practice player who gets spot minutes for some energy off the bench.
Knicks1969 @ 12/21/2014 8:53 PM
He has a long way to go dude
Knicks1969 @ 12/21/2014 9:01 PM
Regarding Monroe, how much does he really worth? If we were to offer him 4 years 48 million, would that be too much? If we were to draft Okafor and another big; plus find a way to add two other FAs (possibly shooters), I think that would drastically change our make up and perhaps our luck
