Greg's is 25% of Cap for Max

Melo = 35% of Cap
Greg = 25% of Cap
Jose = 11% of Cap
J.R. = 10% of Cap

All of these are an emphatic

35% is bad, but just thinking of Jose and JR each being 10% is also very depressing. I've slammed Phil for Jose's contract recently. It does matter. These days fans talk about $6-7M per year like it is trip to McDonalds. In reality, a club cannot afford these contracts if they are not getting production out of the player. The Knicks are such a mess. Phil has so far dug a deeper ditch, not turn things around.

Yeah and some were alright justifying supersizing

Going for contracts like Andrea Bargnani[although he expires this season]

You have to be extremely cost conscious

The above contracts take up 81% of Cap

Between empty roster holds and other cap fodder add 7%

We'll have about 12-13% which equates to approx $5.5-6.5mil[Jeremy Lin territory]

I had to edit the above as I did not account for

Draft pick Cap $ probably around 6%

I anticipate this player taking off now. Obviously he has to be one of our top targets as hes unrestricted consistent and has upside.

We'll have no use for him when we draft OK4

I'm looking forward to seeing what Monroe can do. His defense worried me though.

Smack--i think defense in this new NBA is a little over rated. Take ONLY 2 really bad defensive teams in the NBA LAL and Minnesota. 2 out of the top 3 offensive teams own the lead in Conference standings and differential. The NBA is not about us stopping you so much anymore--rather can you stop us.
We give up the same amount of points that Toronto gives up--yet our records are reversed--does that make any sense? A lot of guys here think our defense stinks but thats not true. Its our offensive arsenal that is not up to standards.

Would I take Ok4 and Monroe on the same team--of course its a NO brainer. Just think about this as well--just how many good players can 1 team get--its very hard just to get 1. I think Monroe will now stay in Detroit but he HAS to be one of our main guys(as a fa target as hes ufa). Ok4 and Monroe together with the correct supporting staff is similar to what Atlanta has--but maybe bigger and better.

My goal is to put two quality bigs in the SL with a high quality PG and then I would fill in from there. At some point if I fell Melo did not fit this group--Id find the best deal and move him. But right now I dont have anywhere near the information that I need to speculate with that.

You're wrong our defense is terrible. The only reason we don't give up more points per game is because we play at one of the slowest paces in the league setting up our sloppy triangle sets.

With Okafor, we will need to have a high energy player next to him at the four spot. Aguy that can run the floor, crash the board (a beast). A taller and more athletic version than Acy
