No that wasn't it, he got tired of seeing the garbage play on court
I saw the game yesterday, there was a play late I know that sealed it
Typical Josh Smith garbage on the perimeter SVG had enough
I mean how long can one watch horrific play
Josh came to Detroit because they had money to spend. He has been dogging his whole time there.
Historically josh had been a stat stuffer in the regular season, but always took his game to the next level in the playoffs with Atlanta.
He is worth the pick up
To be fair, Josh shouldn't shoulder the entire blame. The minutes he signed, people wondered how he was going to fit in with Drummond and Monroe. Smith was forced to take on a role he wasn't suited for. That ultimately falls on Joe Dumars.
We should do the same for JR smith. Let him go and bring in The Nasty

Oh, don't say that- in one fell swoop we lose the chance at Greg Monroe AND the chance of trading Melo.

Obviously if we are helped by the gods and draft OK4, Monroe wouldn't of made sense, but he was a nice fall back option. I honestly don't get who we'd target in free agency now- the options are dwindling.
Houston has a starting spot waiting for him.... he should go there.
But make no mistake... melo and smith would be really nice 4-3 for us... and without trading any assets, that would be sweet

Catastrophic mismatch of talents
Like if anyone could think of a worse big than Amar'e
To pair with Melo it would be Smith
Houston might work because of the Harden-Howard dynamic
Smith 2nd worst shooting % in the entire NBA
Those who have attempted 350FGA or more
Please Phil, do not even think about adding Smith to this team.
phil is on top of everything, working the phones

This would be another surprising move for the supposed advanced metrics lovin' Morey. Smith's advanced stats are godawful.

If he is truthfully, I bet his agent laughs in his ear. You guys think Josh sucks, but Josh probably feels the same way about the Knicks.

boy you got lotta splaining to do.
I liked him alot in Atl.
He's got personality issues, low BB IQ and a weird game...
If this were the offseason and we blew our cap wad signing whoever we add and we could add Josh for $6mm over two years I would be open to that. Now is not the time. No upside to bringing him in now.

I used to like him a lot too- problem is when a player loses it mentally this much, they very rarely get it back. He's lost all confidence.

Josh Smith will always suck though, he needs to stay far away from the Knicks.

Probably because we suck. He should go to Houston anyway.
It sounds like the Mavs and Rockets might be the front runners for getting Josh. Morley vs Cuban again should be fun to watch
hooray for van gundy-- finally letting actions speak plenty loud. smith is a BUM. jennings is a BUM.
You mean people here do not want the 3 J Smiths on one team? Ja, Jo, and JR would be awesome. They could all play at the same time and put on one of the best mid range shows in the league.
What is funny though is that Josh Smith and JR are sharing the basket ball this year. I am not sure it is possible but I hope this wakes Josh Smith up. This is an embarrassment. He should never shoot a shot more than 15 ft away from the basket. Really drives, post ups, and transition buckets should be his shots. If Howard does not convince Houston to take a flyer I wouldn't mind bringing him in at the vet min this year.

Another super low BB IQ player, no way. It's not a surprise that detroit is playing so poorly, the hand full of games i have seen them play, jennings is as dumb as they get, talented but not smart at all. I think Josh would fit well with GSW.

Wouldn't be that surprising. Smith's blocks, steals and rebound are about the same as they were Atlanta. You can easily make the case the Smith's demise in Detroit had more to do with the position he was put in on the court than him being washed up. It's a gambel, but there's a good chance that Smith can return to being player he was in Atlanta.

he sucked real bad in atlanta.
