Is he still trying to reach the playoffs? Will he concede to preparing for the draft and next year?
I personally think we must clean house and look for assets that will stick on next year's roster and beyond. They could be lateral trades or even bigger trades that could get melo a second veteran all star caliber guy. Trading melo is on the table to in my book.
What you guys think?
Thats playoff are pretty much out of reach barring multiple instances of strange occurrences. i personally want the entire team gutted, but I know that wont happen.
I think he needs to find a new home for Melo
Maybe we can trade out no. 1 pick for Dwayne Wade and have a big ceremony with balloons and bubbles!!!
Been there, done that.

If we do nothing half the team will be gone anyway. I'm wondering if we can flip some guys and try to bring in some talent we might want to keep next year.
Im very content letting this all play out.

Yeah but we wouldn't do that type of deal. Wade, deron, brook... yeah that's what we used to do. But the answer isn't trading for up and coming guys because who is trading those type of players for what the Knicks have to offer?

This.
With the knowledge that it'll have to get worse....much worse....before it gets better.
Maybe a couple small moves but between the draft and free agency will be the busiest week we have probably seen in NYK history. I expect a brand new team and at least 3 new starting players by a week into free agency.

I agree. I do think Dalembert gets moved by the deadline for something. Also, maybe one of the two guards gets moved. Ten day contracts start soon. It will be interesting to see if Phil continues to be patient with Bargs and his health issues.
I think Phil will wait until JR, Shump and Bargs get back and play a few games. Gotta at least show they can play. At that point he can do more than he can with them not even on the court. I think we're still looking at the Trade Deadline or at least closer to it. Doesn't Philly still have to come up on their cap before the end of the season?
Hopefully nothing. Wait until he deadline and shift our expiring players to teams that need to strengthen their bench (Cavs, Clippers) for second round picks. Make Melo have his surgery early, buy out Amar'e at the deadline, if we can't move him for a trade exemption, so he can sign with a contender. See if we can move Bargs to the Sixers for a trade exemption (we need one to plumpen our bench with, after we make our signings in the offseason).
There will be no JR trade (he's going to be dealing with his foot tear all season- terrible luck for us)
There will be no Calderon trade (he's here to lure Gasol- won't happen, but that is his purpose)
There will be no Melo trade (now Houston is out of the running, there is no one who makes sense)

Bargs and jr have zero value. Shumpert has some value since he is young cheap and defends

No hope of JR going- the post said the Knicks expect JRs plantar fascia tear to hurt him all season

Lol just as reports were coming out that the Knicks wanted him gone primarily. I'm not implying a conspiracy but wow the bad luck just doesn't stop.
I just hope he's watching Kentucky-Louisville right now
Phil's next movement will be precipitated by a large bowl of Irish oatmeal and a strong cup of coffee

Bargs is a breathe away from getting J-sMOVED from Knicks
Phil at this point is fully detached from Bargs
Phil got more out of Kwame Brown and Smush Parker
Than the above, he's no longer pulse checking these Mud Slide players

Philly can just cut a check to their players like they did last year, which I personally think they should for subjecting them to such a terrible cast.
JR Shump and Bargs at this point have no value and playing wont rise that. All three are players who arent durable, and inconsistent...the absolute worst combo imaginable.
One of them is sure to be waived....my bet is Bargs.

At a certain point of the year, I think Amare, Bargs, jr and shump should all get waived so we can call up Thanasis, Galloway and sign guys to 10 day contracts. No use keeping these guys around the organization

They may not bring up Thanasis because he is currently like Pierre Jackson was last year and once they sign him they have to keep him or cut him. But I agree about Galloway. Galloway has played well in Westchester, was on the top 5 pg prospect list for Ridiculous Upside two weeks ago and was listed as a guy that might break through to the top 30 on the prospect watch.
I think Bargs could get waived and Dalembert might just be traded for a second round pick. I think JR is probably a Knicks for awhile.
