What's the big deal? You act as though the Knicks are going some place this season.

papabear ...

be honest, thats all I ask - thanks!

Papabear Says

Be honest about what? The only person on this team that has value is Melo. You guys complain about everything the man does. When he leaves do you really think Phil is going to put together a championship team? Phil's contract is up the same time Melo's is. Give Phil another year and I bet he leaves because of health reasons. Everyone who are great players in this league for other teams means nothing when you come to New York. I've seen great players come to New York and they just can't handle it. Give Melo some real players around him and not second and third string players and you will have a good team not this garbage on the floor playing now. They stink. They are 3rd string players at best.

Melo has a terrible team around him and I don't blame him for that like others who blindly do.

I am just watching the way he has been playing and especially his passing or lack thereof and its been quite disgusting.

Once he signed the discounted deal, I said right away, he better earn that money and he has failed so far in a big way. No excuses.

We can blame the losing on many things but playing like a prick is his own fault.

Remarkably you see no link between the money he makes and his shitty attitude. No link whatsoever.

Blame the Knick's organization. Everything points back it..why does all this Melo bs happen? Because they let him. Of course it does not make Melo that less of a culprit but its the Knicks fault, they let Melo run the team. They let Melo have a 124 million contract. they let him play 40 minutes a night for the sake of getting his points back up and making sure that he is an all star. If they didn't, then none of this crap would have happened.

Two key points I'd reinforce:

1) Dolan is an enabler of bad behavior. It goes way back. Isaiah was another example. He enabled Melo to stay inside his privileged cocoon. I have said this only once before, but I believe it is true: Melo would have turned down Chicago even if the money was closer to what he is paid here.

I no longer believe he has any interest in team building. In Chicago, he would have been exposed. Melo's career is him first. Staying with the Knicks, money aside, allowed him to stay in his comfort zone.

2) He has clearly said fukit to this season and he is stat padding. Whereas a leader would take the down times as an opportunity to bring along players who are young or will be here next season, Melo shows his only response to adversity is not team oriented. Being the nimrod he is, he always tips his hand, he can't help talking about playing in the All-Star game. Others have said this and now I believe it. Melo is purely an opportunist.

There is nothing about this guy you can build around. He is non-leader and a black hole. If we do get a stud in the draft who turns out to immediately be better than Melo, I'll look forward to seeing if he thinks he can pull his standard chit or if he'll fall in line. Not that I expect miracles, but I'm open to them.

I hope they send him packing before the trade deadline.

I completely agree with the first point. In Chicago, Thibs would require him to play hard every day and play as part of a team and evidently a new culture. Melo would not succeed there because he is own culture here. a bad one.

An unappetizing way to put because it is true. Melo is his own culture. That is why I really don't give a flying fukola about the hazers who can't handle what I or others say about Melo, because the thought of the Knicks culture being defined by Carmelo Anthony for 9 years is disgraceful and obscene.

Yes, Bread and Circuses. I'm opting out. New Year, shift in priorities. Will post just to jibber jabber sometimes, but I won't follow this team very closely anymore. I cannot be bothered to care any longer. Our patronage is not needed.

As Juvenal wrote:

"Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once upon a time handed out military command, high civil office, legions — everything, now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses."

I think of Wade as a leader. I know he played in the all star game the year the Heat won 15 games and I know he shut it down shortly after that to rest his knee and get therapy. Was he doing the things that you are saying Melo should be doing prior to that?

The question is about the season the Heat won 15 games. Wade got 'his numbers' that year and sat about a week after the all star game. Just wondering if he was molding his teammates prior to that.
