Knicks · It's time to shut down melo (page 1)

fitzfarm @ 12/31/2014 8:25 PM
I mean wow we have no one who drives to the hole, minimal effort, no defensive scheme, runs the shot clock down to find one player( melo). Plays scrubs that wouldn't see the light of day on another club like Jason god awful smith, Jose no defense or penetration caldron. Everyone other then melo looks clueless on offense like there hesitant to shoot... And how many open threes can a team give up? we must be going on a record for highest opposing three pt % with no change defensively in the near future.

We better rig the draft like we did in 1986 cause I don't think I can watch another season like this ...

Come on Phil It's time to shut down Carmelo.

call up the Greek, trade Jose for expiring, trade jr for expiring or a second round pick , call up Galloway. Play Galloway, thjr, the Greek, early,Aldrich the rest of the way... Oh yea and rig the draft

Knixkik @ 12/31/2014 8:28 PM
You say scrubs who wouldn't play on other teams but the guys you mentioned started on teams last season haha.
Bonn1997 @ 12/31/2014 8:32 PM
Maybe we can shut him down through 2017 since we have our pick that year too.
TPercy @ 12/31/2014 8:34 PM

he doesn't exert enough energy to be shut down. he needs to be out there to be the entertainer he is being paid to be. he's a digital athlete-- he doesn't suffer the way mere mortals do.

Splat @ 12/31/2014 8:37 PM

And why do you think those teams got rid of them? we were the only team to offer jason smith a contract. A one year min contract. And the only team willing to take on Jose's contract..

fitzfarm @ 12/31/2014 8:43 PM
Jose goes as fool me once Toronto, fool me twice Detroit, fool me a third time Dallas, the only team to be fooled a fourth time lets call the Knicks lol

From the Knicksblog:
The forward ranks fifth in NBA history in minutes played before turning 30 years old.

And has the salary to match. The only reason why folks want melo shut down is because they know he isnt good enough to carry this garbage. The same garbage he endorsed.

The majority of those minutes played were EMPTY clock ticking performances

Here's a fun stat/////

Back-to-Back seasons missing playoffs

While being paid Top 10 in Salary

Even if we go on a tear and sneak into the playoffs were not going anywhere or beating a top seed .. Esp with melo at 75 to 80 percent healthy. With guys like ok4, towns, Mudiay franchise players like that only come around once every ten years. If we want to compete for years and years to come like the spurs. You need to pull a spurs and sit your star player for a year tell him to be ready to compete next year and come in in tip top shape and be 100 percent healthy. If we land a top three pick and we already have melo and cash for another top free agent or two. We'll be set for years. Phil knows this he needs to tell melo to shut it down and focus on being healthy for next year just imagine
Three different line ups that could happen if we get top three

Towns
Milsap
Melo
Thjr
Drogic

Gasol
Ok4
Melo
Thjr
Drogic

Aldrich
Milsap
Melo
Mathews
Mudiay

Any of those starting line ups would be tops In the east and you could replace the free agents with other top free agents and still be tops in the east ... We need to give ourselves the best chance at landing a franchise star player and a top three pick in this draft would do that.

Yesssssss! Looks like melo is shutting it down! this is the best news of a dreddfuf season, get healthy for the real team next year! Fingers crossed for # 1! Also if we're going to suck like we have at least play the youth

Aldrich
Early
Greek( bring him up)
Thjr
Galloway ( bring him up)
Larkin
Caldron ( only to try and trade him)
Jr (only to try and trade him)
Amare (if healthy try to move for picks and or expiring)
Shump ( if healthy try to move for picks and or expiring)

We can also plat Smith, Acy, Prigs, and Weir for the last 4 if they are gone or unable to play.

IMHO, this is the wrong move. I believe Melo is running lame intentionally to avoid the blame process for the losing and to try to force Jackson's hand in terms of attempting to trade Meo.

I doubt he even wants to be traded until next year. He'd get $17 mil more if he gets traded next year.

Do you think teams consult their best players before they make deals? lets talk about one we know he endorsed...JR Smith.

Oh I guess I misunderstood. I thought you were saying that he'd endorsed this team we're putting out on the floor right now. To be honest though, I think that Melo is (or at least was) made aware of things we were going to do but I he had that much influence on the trades/deals. I'm sure he suggested we get JR though.
