I want to keep flexibility for 2016 when KD becomes a FA. I only want to sign 1 premium FA and then we can go cost restricted and or 1 yr commitments type contracts. This is not a 1 yr fix-- Im willing to spend all of my open cap space but atleast 10mm in 1 yr deals.

its opportunity. I mean if you add the right guys it could be a 1 year fix, at least in terms of building your core up. Unless we have real legit info on signing KD Im not missing on a chance to get a bigtime player.

The team needs talent. Hopefully a top 1 or 2 pick adds talent. With Melo, you have 2 of your big 3.
So it really depends on who the draft pick is. If it's Okafor, do you really want Gasol playing on front of him or clogging the lane?
Next is Melo the PF or SF?
Only when these 2 are resolved can the next steps be taken.
The player I would like to see is Jimmy Butler. He is a RFA and 25 years old. He is playing like a max player now and he plays D!! Also, I think as Melo ages, he can become your #1 option on offense.
PF/C - Okafor (is he a C or PF in the NBA?) SF - Melo SG - Butler PG - Calderon (hopefully NOT but..) C - Robin Lopez
These 3 guys are all signed for next year can be the foundation of a bench. THJR Early Pablo --------- Galloway Greek Kid
Add 2-3 Cheap Veteran role playing FA's.
If you cant get rid of Calderon, then you sign a C, if you can get rid of Calderon, I would go for Beverly, Dragic or Rondo if affordable instead of Lopez

Besides the fact that Gasol isn't coming here anyway, we won't have enough cap space to offer both Gasol and Butler max deals.
thats a fact is it? Is Memphis winning a title? Are they a sure thing? Memphis is a nice town, but doesnt sniff NY if your an international player. Also Calderon is his best friend in the league and Im pretty sure we can offer both the max or very close to it. Sure Chi can match but most Butler can make is about $14-$15mm per. Depending on the cap # we are very close.
