the only good thing for us is that gallo has been hurt so he hasnt been the factor he is when healthy.

He was the third string center there for several years. He was resigned and has done better but they got a ton for him. Someone must have given an ultimatum.
It doesn't matter. What matter is Denver got 2 1st round picks for a guy they strong armed the Knicks into giving up.
You said you were against the Carmelo trade. What were your feelings on Mozgov at the time of the trade?
StarksEwing1 wrote:Hector wrote:That wasn't very Knick like to protect those picks.
its amazing the knicks seem like the only teams to never protect picks. Knicks are my favorite sports team but we must be the dumbest in the league if not in all of sports
Walsh protected one in the McGrady deal

Indifferent. I thought he played great when he finally got a chance because Stat and Shawne were out. My issue was I thought the Knicks should have kept Wilson or Gallo. I really liked Wilson. Moz wasn't a deal breaker for me. One of the Knicks two best young players should have been kept.

I wanted to keep Wilson or Gallo but had no problem giving up both for Melo. 1 of the 2 wasn't enough. My issues was Dolan forcing Walsh to include Mozgov and get the deal done and the picks. Specially the right to swap. One lottery pick shoul've been enough since we gave them Wilson, Gallo, Felton and Mozgov

We gave up more in the deal because Billups was included in the deal and because we made Fields untouchable. Plus it wasn't a lottery pick we were giving up at the time.
Also losing Mozgov left us with Turiaf and Amare playing center. It was brutal. We finally got a rim protector & rebounder with a developing offensive game and dumped him

I'm pretty sure Billups was a salary dump. I remember hearing the Knicks were reluctant to add give up Felton. We as fans were very optimistic about the trade until they started asking for Felton & Mozgov. Thats when Stephen A. Smith, Francesa & kay and the likes went on radio saying you give them whatever they want for a player like Melo. Stephen in particular as he mocked felton & mozgov
I don't blame the Knicks for being reluctant to include Fields as
1) He was playing well and looked promising
2)He was our only SG. This was pre-Shump
3)Fields game went down the toilet playing with Melo. He re-emerged slightly playing with Lin
Cleveland clearly overpaid from a macro-market standpoint; given their course of action, its hard not to think we were slightly short-sold on the earlier 3-way deal. Denver leveraged their complete non-urgency, while our tanking aspirations probably made us overly "bearish." Despite this, our deal remains reasonably favorable.

Blatt wanted Mozgoz probably sold the gm on the move. They could have gotten more then Mozgov for 2 first round draft picks. You have to believe that Dalembert was offered to the Cavs as everyone knows there need for a center. They most likely weren't interested in what we had to offer in that regard. But they could have gotten Dalembert and Adrich for one first round pick.

Yes its clear they wanted him specifically - a right place and time scenario for Denver. Our deal enabled their chain of transactions - a prospect we were likely aware of beforehand, if not the desperation with which it happened. But timing the market and the clutter of multi-team deals come with risk, a risk magnified by our in flux draft position - the most valuable asset here; and I'd pull the trigger again.

Don't forget we gave up 2 2nd round picks
And Anthony Randolph[lottery pick] who Walsh proclaimed when acquiring him
As probably the most talented player from the 2008 draft
We also waived Corey Brewer
We gave up so much only to be left with a 5-33 gutter team
With a Fake Star now making double what he made arriving here
Just realized that DEN got more first rounders for Mozgov than BOS did for Rondo!
H1AND1 wrote:Just realized that DEN got more first rounders for Mozgov than BOS did for Rondo!
Rondo is an expiring.
Clev really needs Moz and overpaid given their win now aspirations.
Bigs are hard to come by, and the moz has an offensive game.
Knicks don't value their gifts. Mozzy cost us nothing and while no star, we saw the potential career as very valuable.
Same for Lin. While we got caught is a squeeze and Rockets went nuts over him, he was a gift from above.
The basketball gods throw us bones and we can't value them.
H1AND1 wrote:Just realized that DEN got more first rounders for Mozgov than BOS did for Rondo!
Yeah, crazy- can't believe no team was willing to give up a back up calibre centre for even just one of those first rounders.
For those praising Denver- remember they gave up one of the anthony picks Dolan gave them and one of their own for Iggy who walked after one season for nothing. This was a good deal for them, but I think their team management has been going downhill for a few seasons now. Their GM doesn't even understand the cba (though to be fair, neither do I)- he offered Faried a deal that wasn't even legal (and it was a really basic mistake).

talk about being wrong... the guy I was infuritated we traded was Felton. He was playing like a beast under MDA and we swapped him for a walk it up guy in Billups. I thought Felton was blossoming into an upper echelon PG under MDA and he may have been... but eventually the only thing that blossomed was his waistline. You never know.

if so you proved my point. The knicks and fans did not want to give up Felton at the time.
I forget if Denver dumped Billups contract on us or the Knicks asked for Billups since Denver wanted Felton. Most likely Denver dumped his contract on us which was far from expiring

no man I was wrong... Felton ends up being garbage. Billups was there to match the salaries. Remember we picked up his option, then I believe amnestied him and signed Tyson
