If he plays in this tank season, which is utterly ridiculous at this point ...
If he hurts himself, especially a serious injury ...
He is toast forever!
How the hell could his brand take this kind of chance? Who is making his "Decisions"???
One get hurt crossing the street... you cannot outsmart your faith.
I think that Melo feels that if he plays more his knee will heal ... seriously
Just like:
If I shoot more, I will start hitting my shot
Feel the same way. He is obviously hurt and we are in play for a lottery pick. He needs to get healthy for next year

Melo plays through injury/pain alot. The problem is he doesn't know how to adjust his game and let others carry him. He might do it for a while but not consistently. Hurt Melo is the worst Melo.

This is a great point. People try all kinds of non-sense in baseball (pitch counts, innings limits, etc) and injuries are way up. In the NBA the leg injuries seem to at least be at a high to me even with players taking random days off for S's & G's. Doesn't seem to be much people can do about it.
It's like owning a high performance car. The chance for something to breakdown is greater because of the intensity of it's high powered engine and the stresses that puts on every part of the car. Pro Athletes put insane stress on their bodies with the high jumping, sharp cuts, hard stops etc. Some guys play in such a way that they are able to avoid harsh physical actions. Some guys are just lucky to be built to take the stress and some guys are very unlucky and have brittle bones and thin cartilage etc. Melo seems to be a very stout guy who is just experiencing normal issues for a guy logging heavy minutes and banging etc. Most players will need to clean out a knee during their career and that is what it seems Melo needs. It's not a career threatening issue in most cases. It's not even a very long or hard recovery. We'll see if this is really what is wrong with Melo's knee or if it's more serious.
If he sits, he is "leaving his team"
If he plays, he is "being selfish"
He can't win. Actually, at 5-33, nobody is winning!

leaving his team?
how?
there is no reason for him to play. NONE!
Let him stay healthy so that maybe we can plunder another teams assets for him.

Both of which are incorrect.
