personally, I think it is taking Wear time. Please don't forget that it is a SHOCK that he is even on the team. SO give the team credit for seeing something in him. He is improving his shot and rebounding. That comes from work in practice with the staff. IMO, he is being brought along perfectly. If he can be a consistent 3 shooter and defend and rebound a b it, he can be the next Novak but better.
To me, its Hardaway that is very worrisome.

I think his defense is actually better than his offense. He looks more confident in the defensive end. On offense he's looking for someone else to shoot. Last night was the first time since preseason where he actually looked at the rim.
I love his skills and his pro body. He just needs confidence. I'm hoping he enjoys last night's 21 pts and believes in himself that he can do more often in this league

But on a serious note... Wear, Early and Gallo were all + players last night, all played 24 minutes plus and combined for 56 points. If thats not a good game I dont know what is.

This thread demonstrates the OP agenda. Some see a player develop as a good thing. He sees it as an indictment of the coaching staff.
Some see it as "he has worked hard and moved up to a skill level to be given an opportunity"!
Lin was "held back" but after two years in and out of NBA two things needed to happen, he needed an opportunity and worked damn hard to sieze the moment. One could say he was held back, another could say MDA gave him the opportunity!
How was he held back BTW? What great knowledge does hindisight king f500 have that knew this kid was being kept down?
I see the logical progression and it was so stated that all players are given a chance and if those that don't get it are not playing well, there will be changes.
Its logical and good lockerroom management to let the contract guys and vets get their chance. They are NBA players and earned that money and opportunity. After less than 40 games some are being exiled. Thats freaking awesome in my book.
To do otherwise is you can lose your lockerroom quickly. There are no reports of the team turning away from Fish. They might have rejected the Triangle, but some have their own careers to think about. Its not "fair" either to bring in a system that ruin careers but they were given an chance, and can get an opportunity in Cleveland as well!!! Knicks moved Shump to a team that wants him. JR in the right situation can fill the role of team moron as well!!!
In a perfect world we just ignore some posts. Sometimes we have to address them so neutral readers can think for themselves and form their own opinion based on contrasting views.
It's old school coaching- the guys who Fish and Phil want around next season all got the quick hook- Wear, Larkin, Tim Jr, Early, Cole. This is what a lot of coaches do when it comes to young/inexperienced players. It sends them a message about working hard and not developing a sense of entitlement. You take a short term hit to teach the bigger picture to them. If you just throw them out there on day one, you destroy their confidence.
Haven't even played 41 games and people are bitching about rookie playing time. SMH. These kids will get PLENTY of time the rest of the way. Just another knee jerk complaint trying to kick dirt on our rookie coach and Phil. These guys are doing what they are supposed to do in a lost season. Get rid of the bums n develop the kids.

I thing it was Hahn- not sure- who during halftime said he thought that Fisher was more animated and talking to the younger players (some call it "coaching") on the sideline than he had been earlier in the year with the vets.
I expect he wants to be talking to players who will actually listen and execute, rather than certain others who simply "listen" and then go out and play the same way they always have.

I think we are in FULL tank mode right now and working on development in our young guys and Fisher as a coach as well
While it doesn't guarantee that will win the #1 draft pick, it certianly increases our chances and that is the type of franchise talent we need in OK4 to carry this team for the next decade and not CA

I'd cut this guy and bring in a better DL big -- there are several: JaMychal Green, James M. McAdoo etc. Then, like Crush points out, there are a lot of pretty good players that could shake loose by tomorrow. The Knicks won't cut Wear--they seem content with him, but up to me, I'd be actively searching for an upgrade...Dude just doesn't do it for me.

Wear's not NBA caliber. Sorry--don't know what to tell some of you. This is a fringe guy who's over his head at the NBA level. No offense to this young man or any of you guys--just what I see. You put Travis Wear on any of the other playoff teams in both conferences right now and he's not playing. Wouldn't even be on those rosters..I don't think he plays for teams in the next tier either. Even a team like Philly--I don't think they'd play him either. Who's he playing ahead of on that team? Robert Covington? That kid looks like a jewel they just signed recently...There are a ton of players I'd rather see the Knicks investigate/audition over Travis Wear. I think we're wasting our time with this guy. There are better fish in the sea.
