Woodson can do better than 5 wins...Decisions..biggest factor is that players can be great at one price and an abomination at another.
melo has been an abomination not once but twice... to hell with your "other factors"
templates. here's another one:
you don't really have an adequate grasp of the nature of this sport, do you?
you keep talking about sports, but typing about money. Do your yes men applaud your constant lack of coherence?
Tell us with a straight, omniscient face that if Melo was making 12 million a year, you'd be waving pom poms at him?
But

"it doesnt take talent to play defense"
"Danilo Gallinari has a good contract"Too many others to list.. sadly I dont bookmark. I really should. Maybe make a coffee table book of DK quotes and raffle it off for charity at the next UK get together.
tell me something... is all this blather of yours just your way of covering up how WRONG and INACCURATE you have been about this team? because that's what i get from the mockery: "i am wrong but don't have the stones to admit it."
but yes catalog away. the stuff you listed is a great start. won't make you any better at learning the ins and uts of the game but hey you're the same guy who thinks melo's contract is fair given his "entertainment value" and "revenue generation" because it was dictated by "the market." LOL

Fishmike was WRONG about this team.
I was NOT accurate in my predictions on this team.
I was WRONG. Wrong. and also wrong.
(that was not hard for me to do)
But thats the difference between us. Im OK with predicting wrong. You literally say the some of the dumbest things I have ever read from someone who pretends to know the sport, and when all else fails you just make stuff up. Those are facts which have been proven and discussed. Ultimately your just an anti-Melo baby who is here because you have yet to be kicked off UK as you have been from your other sites. Its your only place left to tilt
As for mockery there isnt one... just replaying your comments. Sorry you find your own musings a mockery. You said em, not me.

That doesn't sound so far-fetched to me. I'd love to have him at that salary even though I think it's a disaster to give him the largest contract in the history of the game. I can't know DK's true feelings but I'd guess that nearly every one of Melo's critics here would love to have him at half his current salary.
Well I think Kobe has signed the largest contract by total valueBut I don't want Melo at any salary, Although he shouldn't be making more than $15mil
Because he's barely if at all a Top 20 playerTotal value for Kobe's is $48 mil. I'm pretty sure he signed a 2 year contract at $24 mil per.
You said in the history of the game right Bonn
Kobe had a contract from the Lakers 7yrs for $136.4mil
It's okay to modify what you said if you like
OK - I guess Melo's is the 2nd largest in total value
Melo's is still the largest current NBA contract.
Like his salary (or him) or not, he makes a sh1t load of money for the knicks and as much as the fans get phucked because of it, it is a business and melo is a fat cow.

The tremendous quality on display here continually though, is that dk complains about blather while blathering on about how much he knows. 11 foot rims, Gallo's contract, defensive talent at the NBA level... priceless insights.

11 foot rims - that's just an opinion. It's a strange comment but it's not right or wrong.
Talent - that's just a vague word.
Gallo - OK, he's definitely wrong on that one. I don't know if he made the comment when Gallo was healthy and playing well, though.

bonn the average height of nba players is practically a foot more than when naismith invented the game. i'm all for playing the game above the rim, and it isn't the only cause, but the price paid is right before our eyes. same goes for the length of the court and the width. they should be made larger. they widened the key from 6 to 12 feet because of george mikan's dominance.
yes "talent" is a vague word, but it wasn't me who introduced the word, a word that merely serves the purpose of muddying the argument, either intentionally because the argument is weak for him, or unintentional because he doesn't understand the nature of the sport. http://www.ultimateknicks.com/forum/topi...
and yes of course i meant when gallo was healthy. nobody can predict injury and frankly if that is the argument being used then surely melo's contract is even more of an abomination than even if he WERE healthy.
good gosh!
yeah i said it once and i'll say it again: it does not take talent. it takes technique and heart. Its idiotic and shows you have zero understanding of athletic competition.that's why it is so hard to find two-way players-- not for lack of talent but because they lack the technique and the will.
this is basketball 101. the short bus is that way -------> make sure you're under it
Talent isnt vague at all:
1. innate ability, aptitude, or faculty, esp when unspecified; above average ability
2. a special ability that allows someone to do something well
mrein immediatly asked you if Calderon could then be a great defender... And anyone who understands athletic competition knows he cant. He lacks the physical tools (those would be filed under 'innate' I can look that up for you as well). He does not have the speed, quickness or length to be so.
Anyway enough of this fodder. DK is an anti-Melo jihadist with limited to no experience of athletic competition. What do you add here? Oh yea.. regurgitate metrics and pretend you know what your talking about. Yawn.
Cant predict health? you were predicting Melo's "shoulder-gate" for months, DYING for him to get hurt so you can say to everyone I told you so. When he goes on IR to get his knee cleaned out I expect a coming out part of bookmarked threads where you "voiced your concern" for his ability to stay healthy. You are as predictable as you are boring. Add uninformed and ignornant to that as well. You sir have not got a clue.
Talent is a vague word.
We were all told that is is a vague word.

mreinman's query was invalid and i responded to it by explaining that calderon is not an nba-level talent. the reason? easy: he cannot defend nba level players, probably never could, moreover he is 33 and if you know anything about athletic competition your quickness fades after 30.
the only reason he was even brought in to the league is because the league itself is a bloated mess, and the main symptom of this bloat is the severe dilution of the talent pool. yes, i said "talent." were it not for his ability to orchestrate and make plays for others, he would not have been given an nba contract.
i guess you missed my response then but i am saying it again here, dumbing it down just enough for you to grasp the "big picture."
