I compared Quincy Acy to Tyler Hansbrough type but I might have short changed Acy. I know Acy is shorter but can he come close to Taj Gibson. Acy came into the league as a 21 year old and Taj came in at 24, like Acy is now. As a 24 year old Taj rebounded better and defended better but if Acy keeps it up he would be the more efficient 24 year old.
So is there something there in Acy that he can improve and become a consistent offensive player and become a better defender? Can he become stronger at the point of attack in the post and not be over powered?
he is tough. if he can make his jay more solid then possibly

I am not sure but I think Phil targeted him. His measurements compare to Rodman and Faried. He actually has a longer wingspan than Faried. He looked really good today. It will be interesting to see how he does the second half of the season.

I didn't even watch him today. I stop watching the game for the 1st time besides falling asleep.
Anyway, He seems like the hard work he put in with his jumper has came through. He of course has to continue doing well but I think he'll be okay going forward. Another thing is he is shooting 51.5% from the field(TS% of 56.5) in the triangle. I wonder what he could do in a different offense.
A good thing is that he is Phil's if he wants him. His cap hold is only $560k over the empty roster spot cost and the knicks should have his bird rights(early or full).

cant believe he is shooting efficiently on this sorry team
I like him but he will always have difficulty defending the bigger PFs.
Which doesn't bode well for increased playing time.
He's disappointed me like just about everyone else. Not nearly as good a player as I thought he'd be. He's OK, nothing special. There are a ton of different ways we can go to upgrade the frontcourt for next year. If we moved on without Acy, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. If I were Phil, he probably wouldn't be in my future plans at this point.
someone was saying this on either the broadcast or post game- and that is just because a guy is scoring points, doesn't translate necessarily to that player being good.
The fact is, the team will score points. Not many, as we've seen.
That said - I liked the range Acy showed in the game yesterday. He could be a role player on the team.
But how many role players are we going to have? How many solid impact players does a team need to win? And where are we getting those.
Acy is a nice player on a team of garbage. I just can't get too excited or attached.
He's a role player on a good team. If we had a true starter ahead of him he would be so valuable off the bench. He brings toughness and he gives a damn out there. He puts the hammer on guys. We need more guys like that
Now I recognize that Taj was/is a more fluid player. He came in with a decent back to the basket game and it has grown. He also is a stronger/better defender that provides more weak side rim protection. That is something that has disappointed me with Acy. I expected him to be better at getting blks from the weak side.
I do thin the defense can improve. I am not sure about his post game. He is a hard worker that improved every year as a collegiate and so far has improved every as a pro. That is a very good sign. You have to keep young players like that especially players that have the potential to exceed their value. Right now Acy is a vet minumum guy and I doubt a team offers him much any way. That could mean the knicks would have a rotation player locked up on a salary less than $2m.
