I almost let a knicks discussion take me over the edge at work. I almost blacked out because a dude is just one of those fans that like to yell and put words in your mouth.
All i said was I thought the Knicks are in good shape cuz of the cap space and the high draft pick. He turns it into a "people like you" "oh you think Phil is a genius" thinks of that nature but going really hard about it. My instincts kick in and now I feel disrespected. Cuz were going from the Knicks into what kind of person I am. I lost my cool and all I want to do is stomp him to the ground. I can debate knicks but I'm not tolerating disrespect.
So I'm debating losing my job over this. It sounds crazy i know, but has anyone ever been brought to this point over the Knicks?
it's like even after I get mad he's like "tell me what I said, I didn't know you were so sensitive" so I'm at a point now where I want to catch him outside work to talk about this. I'm trying to chill.
Dude you gotta let some of your
Thug like bravado go, obviously your life>vs what some random joe says
Besides what he said probably isn't any worse than what you see posted here on a daily
Eny, use it as an opportunity to practice your ability to control your reaction to external stimuli. Lots of peeps might talk with you in an insulting way, especially if you voice an opinion. Why let it get you into trouble?
And if you "win" the day, what have you actually won?
Be resilient and ignore the fool if he troubles you, or consider his words and see if they have any merit. It's amazing what happens when you take let the other dude feel like he gets a win. Emotional responses rarely lead to a good resolution.
And losing your job? WTF man. How is that even a consideration?
maybe when i was a teen i coulda been pushed over a sports team. not anymore. these teams dont give a poop about you unless you are showing your loyalty with $ and then its just $ they want. dont let any support of a team derail your income.
Just wait. If you are right, there will be more than enough time to shove it in his face in a non-physical manner. I assume that you are really upset because he seemed dismissive to you.
Not worth losing a job over, and as someone pointed out, you and others get this kind of reaction all the time on U.K.

We can say things to each other here and it's just nonsense jargon said on the Internet. Like my signature for instance. It's a joke. I agree it's disrespectful but guys took it for a joke or whatever and that's what it is. You aren't really sure what the intent.
Real life is different. When someone speaks you know what their intent is. You see their energy. You also have a say in how that gets dealt with. If the dude aid what he said on here i would offer him real estate on my balls. In real life i want to offer my fist to his teeth
the knicks are irrelevant, a joke.
hard to imagine anyone with perspective and a sense of humor making it a personal issue to the point of quitting their job.

Not quitting buy doing something to get me fired.
anyway the guy stays going nuts after I say the knicks season is done and that I thought they were in good shape cuz of the cap space and high pick

Hilarious because I can see myself in reacting the same way you did.
My brother pulled a similar stunt on me during these past holidays...He is one of these dudes that blames everything on Melo and disregards everything else. Although I agree with the points being made about C.Anthony, I speak on other factors as well and when I do that, I'm a MeloLover and no one can say anything about him because I get offended....almost knocked the sh!t out of him in front of everyone, lol.
Its dumb and we should know better in our old age but it is what it is...maybe its a NY thing..maybe we're immature. who knows. Just try and chill...go to the gym and work out it. Or go back to him and insult him somehow, lol.....

Try breathing through your nose, and lose some stress by channeling all this fist thumping agression into your workout.
You are seriously considering unemployment for professional basketball fandom?
The Knicks will still be your team whether this dikhead you're dealing with spouts enough sheehit to fill 41 pages of threads.
Eny, you can't let him get to you. I'm sure you have to realize that in a real-life conversation, your fellow worker would truly make Phil sound like an idiot, right? Like some of the trolls on here think they do?
Relax. Drive to the hole and slap a backboard or two.
this is hilarious and very telling of the alignments makeups.

Yeah I mean why up the anty possibly catching a case
So not only do you get fired but going to jail over an assault is what's tickling your fancy
Most tough guys I know don't go to msg brds discussing what they're on the brink of doing
Those that do and act on it end up on the 5-O 6-O news
Otherwise they would have already handle their B.I.
Oh I can fully understand. Disrespect like that can be hard to take. Disagreeing isn't a problem. Gotta use some breathing to release some of the pressure. Just remember you've got too much going for yourself to let someone get you out of pocket and do harm to yourself. He ain't worth it.

Well I'm not trying to show how tough I am....I'm just venting and trying to see if anyone had anything similar happen to them.
In my situation there is a way to do things so I just hope I can keep cool cuz i don't want to let my anger get the best of me

Buy a couple of fish from the supermarket/fish market and put them in his desk/locker, etc.
Problem solved

apparently the dude is a clown trying to get a rise out of you. by staying engaged you give him ammo.
figure out what his figurative weapon is, take away that weapon... and walk away!

Maybe ask him if you can still buy his book about NBA championship basketball.
Tell em his Momma taste like Honey Nut Cheerios. That should settle it
