Oh I clearly didn't know he was referring to this thread
I thought he was talking about a personal experience
But since you're in this thread with the windows rolled down
While a leak is being taken my apologies if any got on you

He's actually talking about your idiotic posts in this thread and the fact that you won't stop pissing in your own face.

There's a dry cleaners down the street
Probably should make a pit stop and get you squared away too

The culture was bad, we get that. But Shumpert, Chandler and Smith got us what exactly, a 2nd round pick?
If the Cavs were willing to give two first rounders for Mozgov you're telling me we couldn't have worked something out. There wasn't a market to sent him to Atlanta, swap him to the Thunder for Perkins and pick? Golden State for a pick. There had to have been a better deal out there.
Agreed but Phil wanted $6mil in cap space opportunity now
That doesn't present itself until July Melol
Or we simply could have held on to ShumpertUntil the 23rd hour of the deadline and got back better value than a 2019 2nd rounder
But since he's swinging for the fences 2015 free agencyThen pick up the 36oz bat hands in, head down, eyes focused go for it
A 2018 1st with some modest market protection has modest valueIt's clearly been proven this whole season and I was happy to educate on this very reality
So we've now changed gears to tactic #3. When your point of view is so idiotic that you have no leg to stand on and most posters are laughing at you ......
1) Create a Straw Man argument and make up stuff....if people don't fall for that then.....
2) Bring up Melo, Melo's contract or simply type Melol....when no one takes the bate for that.....
3) Bash the job Phil has done
You still haven't addressed the point. Why would the Knicks trade their 2018 First Rounder now for $7.7 Mil in cap space, when there is no reason to and he can basically do this move at any time (and let other GM's laugh at him)? Your only answer to this is why not, Phil traded Shump and JR.

Your responses to sarcastic barbs make less sense than your basketball posts.

He does it because there's actually a player available
To make a trade for in Chandler, personally I could care less when he does it
That was never the premise of this debate hence you inserted a StrawMan argument here
I'm for anchoring a 2018 1st to Calderon creating cap space[$7.7mil] in 2015 or 2016
Now your turn prove that a 1st rounder has significantly more value than this
TripleThreat wrote:F500ONE wrote:If all they're going to get you as of today is Dion Waiters and Mozgov and Brandan Wright and Jeff GreenThen I think some of us or overestimating their value
1) The way and manner in which first round draft picks are handled, in terms of franchise rights, slotting for salaries, option years, requirements for guaranteed money, etc - all that is vested until 2020. This provides a COST CERTAINTY to every NBA franchise and it's respective front office.2) There will be a LABOR WAR in 2016. It's not a question of IF but FOR HOW LONG. Like the last labor war, you are certain to see changes in the format under which teams can build/rearm/acquire talent/retain their own talent.
I simply don't see, in my view, the upside in trading away a first round pick that extends beyond the next true labor war between the owners and the players union. While the vested format for first round draft picks offers COST CERTAINTY, the reality is that changes around the rest of the way teams can operate might raise the valuation of those picks in contrast to other team building methods in a relative sense.
Can and do teams overestimate the value of first round picks and cost controlled years? Yes, it's probably likely in some instances and some cases. Getting four cheap years of a guy at about the level of a Rick Brunson or a Brian Scalabrine isn't going to move the needle for you. It still comes down to finding the RIGHT players.
Should the Knicks refrain from trading first rounders absolutely? No, I don't believe that. I think you have to look at a deal on a case by case basis, given your situation at the time and factor in the league's entire marketplace.
But, considering all that, should the Knicks be trading first round draft picks RIGHT NOW. My take is No. There is no upside to it.
2018 is a LONG LONG LONG WAY OFF when you are considering sports years from now. There is too much volatility in the league's structure right now to safely assume what those picks will be worth. And until you do, you don't trade that far into the future.
Could trading a 2018 first be sensible at some point down the road? Maybe, but you can still make that deal LATER if you need to do it.
There exist very few mechanisms for NBA teams to get better, the Knicks are not in a position now to start limiting those for the future.
I would love if Phil had the juice to
Accumulate picks A La Danny Ainge but in 2016 we have no picks
Guess what we ain't trying to duplicate this season again
Which means Phil will be working in over drive to make sure the cap space pays off
Not just for who he signs but for us more importantly
He can't afford for this team to be bad and get off to a slow start next year
Since his arrival he's essentially acquired 3 2nd picks
And surrendered 3 second round picks although 1 is a swap option
I don't see a pick Centirc exec here, even Hinkie[Philly's GM] knowing his team
Wasn't going to be good didn't simply bank on his 1st round returns by default
He accumulated 2nd rounders by the droves, Ainge has been a burrier of nuts himself
I understand what you're getting about embarking on future endeavors
But giving up a 2018 1st rounder is not going to make or break our success
I'm for 1 who wished we had done a very traditional rebuild from the start
We're kind of past that now

1) Not a straw man.....there's a player available now who may or may not be available later and you have indicated you want to act on it.....that generally means that you are advocating for the trade now while the player is available....DUH.
2) I honestly don't know what the 1st Round pick is worth.... the value of first rounders seems to be all over the place. The worth seems to have a volatility or variability based on need and desperation. Trading a pick is about opportunity cost. The better the pick, the higher the worth. Timing also comes into play...trading a pick on draft day might yield a higher result because another team covets a certain player to draft. So while you might think you have it all figured out....most here agree that the opportunity cost of a first rounder is not worth trading for $7.7 million in cap space at this time...."SITUATION" comes into play........the team could have over $30 million in cap space available going into this offseason.....do they need the extra $7.7 million this year? Won't know until after the draft and things flush out further. There are no absolutes but not even worth talking about trading the pick for space and Chandler at this point.
