The all star game means nothing. Playing in London is an exhibition game. There is a foul odor surrounding playing in either game.
Melo knows that surgery is needed. Why delude yourself into thinking that either game holds any importance last the photo op?
Shut him down Phil.
Melo, pressure from the NBA, Melo enterprises. No matter whi's decision it is, it stinks and is a slap in our faces

The Prince and his Son
why does it have to do with his "brand" does melo even have a brand? dude wants to play basketball.

why? there is no point to play now and he is hurt (I thought). Why play? If you need to fix your knee then go fix your knee an be quiet. If your knee is fine, then play and shut up. This is getting ridiculous.
And of course he has a brand. That is the only reason why we gave him that ridiculous contract.
what if the doctors has told him that you can do no further damage and you will just have to deal with the pain.Maybe he just doesn't like losing? Maybe he thinks he can help even though in reality he becomes a detriment to the team. That injured player still makes the knicks better.
What is also interesting is that a year or two ago you had D.Rose being cleared as healthy but refused to play. Now, Melo is not healthy but wants to play. Both players killed by fans. Its kind of funny.

if doctors told him that he would not do any further damage then of course he should play! He is getting paid to play not sit.
The doctors told him he would not do further damage was the original spin. Now they are talking surgery. So why is he playing?
Why is this coming up? Did he say he was going to play?
And why on earth is he a leading vote getter this year? Anyone who voted for him this year shouldn't be allowed to vote in the future

yes. he wants to play in london. why? cause the guy really wants to be there for his team.
votes are because of his brand. his brand is why we paid him. His brand has made the knicks a sh1t load of cash.
Unless he is not hurt and this is all part of the tank. But the. Why get surgery

When was that said?

Hate to break it to you but people do actually like Melo.
I had the same surprise about Lin last year (I don't think he was leading but he came closer to Chris Paul than he should have) but I also knew that he had a lot of fans.

fewer and fewer. if the knicks stink next year then nobody will like him anymore other than the 20 UK posters who remain steadfast.

I'll put it like this. Think of this like Patrick Beverley and Jeremy Lin. They both tore their meniscus slightly and needed surgery one played and one elected to sit. One played through pain and another one did not. Was Beverley not injured just because he played? From what we are hearing it seems like a pain and swelling issue.

we can hear what ever we want based on leaks but we have no idea wtf is actually going on.
And as far as Lin sitting, he had one shot at a big contract and he was not going to risk it by playing hurt. And as it turns out, he was right cause he got paid and will probably have to live on that money.
He needs to have surgery to correct his backbone first.

Liking Melo should have nothing to do with whether he deserves to be an all-star this year. There are many players I like very much but wouldn't vote for

Did Beverley eventually have surgery?

I am not sure. A lot of players and team do not disclose off season surgeries and/or are very vague when admitting it.
