.... for batum, Matthews and c macullum?
I was watching mike Dunleavy senior and grant hill talk about portland and they both said they needed more out of their small fwd position, but though Damien Lillard and Aldridge with the bench they have is good enough to come out the west.
Aldridge, Melo, lopez, Lillard and thjr? Are they better?
Knicks get extra cap space and 2 young players in batum and cj....we could resign Matthews and go from there with the rebuild. Hopefully we draft okafor then we can use the money to fill in the blanks.
Portland makes that trade and you'd hear Dunleavy and Hill go on about how they're not getting enough from the two guard position.
How much more cap space do you want? If the TV contract is as big as everyone's touting it to be, trading away our best player for 2 more yoots and wet draft dreams is a bit of a stretch.
I get it though. hoping for 20 wins is a tough thing to watch.
Some people have reported that it's fun.
The more I think about it, there are alot of small fwd prospects out there. We have several on our team as it is. Maybe we should have let melo walk....
I get that we needed a star to build around. Phil was expecting things to be a little better than it has been. With us heading into this draft, I bet he would rather just have a full clean slate going forward.
It's true that melo might start to regress... he also might just keep on playing like Paul pierce does and finish strong at the small fwd spot.
Or you can wait until the offseason and have Melo AND Wes Mathews AND THJ... (and I'd like to pick up Robin Lopez too).
Patience
I'd like to be rid of THJ though!

I highly doubt impatience is the reason he included Melo in the proposal
Add 2 first round picks and I say its a go.
Honesty do people think Portland will keep Matthews or should they trade Batum who is slumping? Batum has age and all around game but Matthews is a lights out shooter/defender.
As much as I like Wesley, Danny Green has better Defensive win shares and shoots 3s at a higher percentage. So why give up assets when you can possibly duplicate the players from Portland in FA?

make it 7
Why stop there?
One....MILLION draft picks (Dr Evil Voice)
I'd do this deal any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Batum is a nice wing who plays D so we replace Melo with him then we get a 2 guard in Matthews who is light years beyond any 2 guard we've had in many years. Plus we get out of Melos contract for more cap space.
It's too bad Portlands GM couldn't complete this trade because when Phil proposes it and he'd be unable to respond because he'd be doubled over laughing his azz off and Phil would be on the other line waiting and waiting and waiting....Portland gets raped in this deal, no way they would ever consider it. THjr has almost no value anymore. He's been exposed.
Frankly they may just offer the Knicks Dorell Wright.
this thread and others alike are exactly what the issue is with Melo on the UK site.
WAY OVERRATED. He is ours so we think that he is incredible and worth the world. Its not just Melo but with our kids as well (fields, shump, Timmy)
some of the proposals are just downright preposterous
Conversely, this being a Knicks fan site, most on here don't think he's the second coming, King James level or "worth the world". The reality is this: he's the best individual player we've had since Spree or Ewing. Some on here who claim to think for "we" however, believe he's not worth a Mardy Collins used band-aid, and for possibly inane personal reasons, can't stand having him on this team, at any price. And these opinions are offered as the only ones offering any true "insight".
He was offered near a hundred million to play on other, better-situated franchises, but he chose to take lots more cash and stay here. He didn't have to. But he did. He could have left us with possibly worse than what we are already experiencing, because we were going to be getting nothing back. So staying here obviously means that he is a greedy, untalented, self-obsessed idiotic moron who wants to take way too many technical free throws and consistently play the game the wrong way. While going to the playoffs 10 out of 12 seasons.
Think, for a second. Melo signs with Houston or Chicago, where are the Knicks, despite Phil's understated celodurismo? We still have a rookie coach, a couple of injury prone mid-level NBA players and a bunch of NBDL players struggling not to embarass themselves out of a job. We are most likely still playing for ping pong balls. Oh, but we have lots and lots more cap space. To sign who? You honestly think Durant wants to come here and help Fish learn how to coach Travis Wear? LeQ had his chance and passed. How's all that cap space and draft picks working out for Philly?
Yet now, we still have a player who can step onto the court and drop 25 with major rust. Is this the best of all possible outcomes? No, but the level of idiocy and blame that gets thrown to the best player on the team for the past 5 years may be a little bit closer to what the issue actually is on this UK site.
Maybe we just trade Melo for Gallo straight up. Of course, we'd have to throw in a couple of first rounders, but what the heck.
He could have left us with possibly worse than what we are already experiencing because we were going to be getting nothing back
Not true. We'd be getting $25 mil per year in cap space back, which is not that much less than the entire Hawks' or Spurs' starting lineups ($30s mil each).

No he couldn't have.

I know you only type one liners, but you should really try to corral your attention deficit and read someone's entire thread before responding.

So the Spurs or the Hawks lineup would magically be here this season? Bonn, seriously, do you honestly believe what you type?

If the Hawks and Spurs starting lineup is 30 mil each..Why is the question from you NEVER what are the Knick doing with additional 33 mil of cap space beyond Melo??
